The Outdoor Research Rocky Mountain High Gaiters will keep your feet dry as you walk through majestic mountains to contemplate your raison d'ętre. The uncoated 8oz packcloth leg section tops a coated 8oz packcloth foot section for the right mix of impermeability and breathability. OR designed these gaiters to lock out heavy debris. The 1in-wide hook-and-loop front closure is enhanced with a strap-and-cam buckle at the top of the gaiter and an elastic cuff at the bottom to insure crud stays out. Hike or ski through rock-choked ravines full of snow and brush; the boot-lace hooks and snaps keep the gaiters securely attached to your footwear, and nylon instep laces prevent the Rocky Mountain High Gaiters from riding up your hiking boots or Nordic ski boots.
Bottom Line: Get out to contemplate nature's wonder — not stones in your shoes.

I'd recommend a breathable Gore-Tex gaiter instead, especially if you're going to be bushwhacking & racing. Here's a good choice:
