Built with Gore-Tex, the Outdoor Research Northback Glove handles all your ski adventures. Weather is no object when your paws are protected with the burly Northbacks, but toughness doesn't have to mean you sacrifice dexterity. Stretch-woven fabric between fingers and across the back of the hand allow you to move your fingers when you're tightening your ski boots.

  • EnduraLoft insulation traps heat without bulking up your gloves
  • Tricot lining manages moisture and adds comfort
  • FlexAction wrist articulation allows full range of motion
  • DuoCinch gauntlet closure helps you seal out snow

Bottom Line: Gloves worthy of two high-fives.

Two questions: Does this glove have a removable liner? How does it compare with the Arete glove?

No, this glove does not have a liner. As for comparable to the Arete, the Northback is warmer glove, but the Arete will be a more functional glove for someone doing an aerobic activity. As a ski glove, the Northback is great but as a backcountry ski/mountaineering style glove, the Arete is a little better.

I am an older skier. I have circulation problems in my hands. Will this glove keep me skiing in the extreme cold?

I have circulation issues too. When it's really cold, Gloves simply don't work. I use only mittens below -10 C. The Alti Mitt (OR) is incredible.

ten degrees to zero degrees is not extreme cold to me. I guess I should keep looking.

OR's comfort rating for this glove is from 10 degrees F to -20 degrees F. Depending on what you think is "extreme" cold, I'd say that for someone with circulation issues, you'd be fine in these gloves down to at least 10, maybe to 0 degrees, especially if you keep moving...

Warm and well constructed

By:

These are the best heavy duty gloves I have ever owned. They are not only warm, windproof and waterproof, but very comfortable and breathe well. The construction is very sturdy and allows for good manipulation and dexterity. Quality seems very very good. Tie strings work real well. Medium is fairly tight on my hand, sizes may be on the small side.

I have yet to test them in double digit freezing temps (C). Will update this review when I have. Here is a picture of the inside materials.
