Love these gloves
This is my 2nd pair of these gloves (lost the 1st pair) great mitts for all conditions. Easy to control temperature by removing the inserts. I love that!

good all purpose mittens
Good all-purpose mittens for hiking and camping - I find myself using the liners on their own more than anticipated. Appreciate the plastic connector that is easy to unclip with cold fingers.

Magical Mitts
If you are looking for longevity and versatility these mitts will not disappoint. I purchased these to replace my last pair of Meteor Mitts that had to be retired after 15 years. With the exception of the small cord pull loop near the top (I think for pulling with your teeth to remove them?) they are identical to the original ones (the old fleece inserts even worked in the new shell). I use these for alpine skiing and snowshoeing as they are versatile in a wide range of temperatures. Having the leashes cinched around your wrists comes in handy when your hands start sweating and allows you to remove the shell to vent and not lose them -especially when you are riding the ski lift. When you temps begin to rise you can remove the fleece liners and stow them in a pocket and just use the shell or just wear the liners themselves. Brilliant product.

These gloves are awesome
I had a previous pair of Outdoor Research mitten shells, but unfortunately lost one. I did quite a bit of searching before settling on another pair of OR Mittens. I use these for snowboarding in a wide variety of conditions. They are great because the shell is water resistant and fairly warm. I can adjust the internal layers to be appropriate for the conditions, ranging from barehand to thin liner gloves to the heavy mitten inserts that are included with these. The long wrist tether on the shells works perfectly for sliding them off without losing them, allowing you to use your hands for bindings, laces, helmet adjustments, etc. These mittens have been very durable, taking abuse from ice, snow, trees and more. I will definitely buy another pair when and if these need to be replaced.

Follow up review after 3 years?.
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I said three years ago that these are the best, but I really had no idea. My hands are never cold, and the design of the liners is brilliant. I keep the shells attached to my jacket, So I take those off from time to time? On the chair or at the car? And the liners stay on. Because you can fold back to fingertips and thumbs, your hands never get cold, But you can do things like open your phone, dig things out of your pockets whatever, and not worry about dropping the shell. Also as it?s a liner & shell?. They are easy to clean and dry? they never get that musty smell. For a relatively inexpensive mitten, these just can?t be beat. I wish you could buy replacement liners, would be good to have an extra pair for the dreaded day after I drop one.

Warm and dry, and your fingers can pop out when needed
Just returned from Antarctica, these held up well while gripping the ropes on Zodiac in rough water. One star lost due to this new version design flaws: The magnets on the fleece mittens are weaker than before, and there's no zip pocket for hand warmers. Otherwise worked great.

maybe i got a bad batch?
these seem great especially for the price, however they fell apart at multiple seams on both gloves after one season.

Best all around winter mitt system
I've had my Meteor mitts for almost 10 years now and they are still my go-to gloves for snowy conditions and skiing. The shell works great by itself in warmer conditions and with the included (and very versatile) fleece liner or any other lightweight glove (included heated gloves). With a the shell, liner and a hand warmer, I've been fine down to 10F even with Raynaud's. I bought a pair for both my dad and son who both love them. Highly recommended.

Excellent mittens for cold hands
I struggle to keep my hands warm in the winter. Gloves are not an option. But I needed something that would grip a ski pole well, and also allow me to easily adjust equipment. These mittens are perfect. They have great grip, excellent warmth, and repel water very well (crucial for NW skiing). The ability to slip the outer off while keeping the liner on and folding back the fingers is very helpful when I need to make adjustments on the hill. And the retention straps are great so I don't need to worry about dropping them in the snow.

I ordered these gloves not understanding that it is only the liner that has the fold back to expose your fingers. I was initially disappointed, but after using them, I realized that it is easy to remove the outer shell and the liner acts as a separate glove when you need your fingers free. Very clear design. I have worn them in roughly 21 degrees on a hike (without an additional glove liner) and they keep my fingers nice and toasty. The quality is rock sold and seem to be very durable. They are mittens, so they are a little bulky, but this gives you room for a liner glove if you want the extra warmth. I ordered the BioSensor Glove Liner which works perfectly. My hand size is right on the cusp of large and small, so I ordered the large Meteor Mitten and paired it with the medium glove liner. It fits like a ..... glove.
