Maelstrom bag

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Love this bag, no worries about getting my Laptop wet. It is a very slick simple design with no whistles and bells. Simple is always better

It's also stylish!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought this bag for a trip to Nicaragua during their rain season. It worked very well, keeping all my stuff dry during those downpours. What I liked about the bag, though, is that it is quite stylish and I can even take it as a handbag to restaurants.

Keeping your items fresh

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I purchased this bag for my sister as a wedding gift. She had a 2-month round-the-world honeymoon shortly after her wedding. She needed a waterproof bag for all of her travels. We looked at different bags and decided this was the best for her. After receiving the bag I was impressed by the bag's unique characteristics. The quality is top-notch. The attachments are more of a hook and loop than a clip system. The bag has a zip-lock style closure on top - keeping your belongings fresh in all kinds of weather. Overall, I liked the design of the bag.

My sister studied it and asked me to return it. The main problem was sides of the bag tapers so if you were to set it down, it would fall over on it's side. The other thing she didn't like was the material on the back. It's a semi-clear plastic. She wished that the material on the front was also in the back.

Responded on

Yes, it does taper and won't stand-up on its own if you set it down. One small drawback, I agree, especially if you don't have your laptop in a cushioned case.

Good urban bag

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

The product description tells exactly what it is. Up to now, I effectively don't have to worry about what is inside when it's raining. It is good in bicycle too and I think I will use it when travelling when you don't know when you will have a dry place the next time for the camera and passport... I don't really like the VaporLock closure (same closure than a "ZipLock" plastic bag). It is not a fast and easy closure, but I don't think you can really do better than that if you want to have something waterproof. The shoulder strap is on a swivel which make it easy to unravel. You can easily put your raincoat under the flap when it is sunny again. You can't fit a normal laptop in the small size, but a tablet should fit.
