Excellent Ski Jacket

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have skied 30 years, probably a hundred storm days without a good storm jacket. Finally bought this one. Wow, where have you been all my life! The jacket now has a season of skiing, including seven storm days. It laughed at the wind blown snow. In 30 degree weather I wore only a cotton wool duofold shirt topped with a flannel shirt under the jacket. Below 20 degrees I switched to a thicker flannel shirt. That's all. Outdoor Research has done a great job designing this jacket. It is so good I'll probably use it sailing on blustery San Francisco Bay.

I am 5-11, 185 lbs and the large size fit perfectly. This jacket is a lot cheaper than Gore-Tex and well worth the price.

This looks to be a jacket designed for powder/snow/wet snow..... how long will it keep one dry in a cold, steady rain?

Great jacket

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
  • Fit: Runs large

The jacket runs a little big, which is good when you're layering. While it is insulated, the insulation is pretty minimal - so you'll probably want to layer. Otherwise, it has a lot of nicely thought out features: underarm vents, a small pass through for headphone cable, and a small pocket-within-a-pocket for your phone or iPod in the outside breast pocket by the headphone cable passthrough. The hood is also detachable. It's well made, and the yellow version is VERY yellow. It took me a little bit to get used to it, but I really like the color now.

Burly, Warm and Waterproof

I dig this Coat. This jacket is made for the wettest Northwest days and can withstand the elements all over the world. It's been my saving grace through storm days when it's just too good to go home. ;-) I love that the velcro cuffs can wrap around the thumb to keep the snow out. Also, the removable hood, chest vents and pocket placement make it a coat that you are glad to be wearing long after the adventure is over.

Awesome Jacket

I took this jacket out with me to Colorado. We skied at 13,000 feet with wind and I was not cold at all. The wind protection is fantastic. I did not use the hood, but was there as needed. It's nice it zips off too. Overall, love this jacket and highly recommend it.

Great Ski Jacket

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I wore this jacket for the first time while skiing on a very windy day, very windy at the top, in the 20's. With a t-shirt, fleece and the jacket all day long I never was cold and never was too warm. Couldn't feel the wind at all. I really like my jacket.

Bought it on S&C and for the price this jacket was a steal. For a casual skier it was just right.

Fits Loose

It was definitely warmer than the alternative that I went with (Helly Hanson Zeta 2L HT), but the fit is big.

It is quite a bit "puffier" than it appears in the picture, and the fit is on the large side.
