On the deepest, coldest days of winter, break out the Outdoor Research Men’s Highpoint Jacket and batter back the icy chills as you cut turns. This waterproof breathable ski shell features a Pertex outer and PrimaLoft ECO Sport insulation for staying toasty when the mercury plummets. Fully taped seams increase weather protection, and the front zipper features a storm flap to block wind and moisture. When the sun comes out, stow the hood inside the collar, and open up the two-way pit-zips. Speaking of zips … Outdoor Research made the front zipper Euro style—so don't freak out and think you got a women's jacket.

Bottom Line: Climb to your highpoint, then slash pow all the way to the base.

Not having the piece in front of me I cannot say to a 100% degree of certainty, but if it is stowable my best guess would be that it is not insulated.

Great Jacket

This was a great jacket although It runs a little small. I have long arms and wide back so it was small on me. I usually wear a small but with the OR I ordered a medium and it fit perfect. If you are a small person go for small but I am 5-10 athletic fit and Medium was the way to go. It is warm and light I loved it

I like a lot about this jacket: lightweight; insulated; stow (or no) hood; not too long; outer layer is thin-ish and flexible. But, there are technical details that sink it for me: the euro zipper; zipper not dual-acting; cuffs hard to really cinch down due to the elastic; sleeves a bit too short (these last two issues mean that my glove liners work themselves out from the sleeves during activity: not acceptable); placement of hand pockets too low if you are wearing a big hip belt. Soooo... the question is: what other jackets should I look at that have the same good (from my perspective) qualities of the Highpoint? It doesn't seem to be a huge category, and I'm getting lost in all the shells. Thanks.
