Good Warmth with Wind stopping

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: True to size

I have the model previous to this one and love it - The newer model has some bonuses that the one I have does not. This version has an better zippers and pockets - definitely both a plus.

This jacket has excellent warmth/weight - not as good as an Arc'teryx atom LT but this serves a different purpose. It makes a great outer layer in windy, cold days. It sheds light cold snow very well - wet snow will wet it out (that's what a hard shell is for!).

The great thing about this jacket is that you get a big bang for your buck - good insulation AND wind stopping -- perfect for brutally cold days in winter even when it's a bit wet. I prefer it over some of my down jackets and any of my other insulating layers because it is more versatile and still very pack-able and light.

Can't go wrong if you're looking for an affordable insulated jacket that will be excellent in the wind.

I got this jacket to be a mid to light insulating layer that cut the wind. Works GREAT for that purpose. Here I am bundled up at the top of Mt. Liberty on a particularly cold winter day. Jacket is perfectly loose to fit ample layers as needed.

With the windstopper I find myself warmer in this than in jackets with higher insulation (100g to 180g) simply because of the cutting of the wind!

Diggin the orchid color that's now out - but the blue does the job equally well :)
