Wear the Flex-Tex low-profile stretch gaiters from Outdoor Research for trail running, hiking, cross country skiing, or eating Tex-Mex. Made from durable Stretch Cordura, these tasty gaiters feature a 1in-wide hook-and-loop front closure with bottom and top snaps for added security. Bootlace hooks and nylon instep laces hold the gaiters down and snug to lock out all the rice-and-beans type debris that doesn't make it to your mouth.

Bottom Line: Don't hit the trail — or eat tacos — without them.

I hate using big, bulky and warm gaiters, so these are a great answer. Very simple, they will keep snow, mud and dirt out of your boots and shoes.

I use them to block out the snow for summer mountaineering, and winter ice climbing. Definitely wouldn't use them for full on rain slogs, but they do the job for the cold or snowy times!

I saw in a magazine (outside, perhaps), that someone does a high-quality pair of strap replacements for these gaiters - the replacement is a rubber strap, instead of the stretchy nylon these ship with. Anyone know who makes those?

Nice, but...

It is the best low cut gaiter I could find for winter use, but I agree with the previous reviewer -- why not waterproof breathable?
My experience with sizing: I bought the L/XL and found that: a)the gaiters were too big for TNF Ultra 104 trail running shoes (men's size 10), but b)they fit pretty good with Lowa Renegade boots, also size 10. I hope this helps.

I like them, but .....

The stretch material is good, hook and loop closers are much better than zippers, but why not use waterproof breathable material. I treated the gaiters with a mixture of silicone and mineral turpentine, but it is just not the same.

Great For Trail Running In The Snow

By:
June 26, 2008

These work great for trail running in the snow. I can tuck my running pants into the top of the gaiter - my non Gore Tex shoes stay mostly dry, no snow gets in my shoes, and my ankles/shins stay warm and dry. I had to cinch the below-the-foot strap real tight to keep the heel part over the shoe, but now it works. These are sized way too big - I went with the S/M for my 10 1/2 shoes.

Not hardy

A thin, low cut, stretchy gaitor. Really only for GROOMED track skiing or trail running in mild snow. I needed something heavier and returned these. The material is about as heavy as a heavy pair of tights (thought certainly more durable. Maybe a great product in the right conditions, since in general I've found OR to be a good company.
