OR Ferrosi Windshirt
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: True to size
Great light weight outer shell when windy and slightly moist. It wicks sweet like nothing I know and keeps the wind out. It is very small and packs light.
Nice Variation of a Classic
This is a great addition to the Ferrosi line. It's every bit as great as the hoody and pants but just streamlined a little when the hood isn't necessary. The only other real difference seems to be the torso on the jacket is shorter and not quite as boxy as on the hoody. Might be an improvement for some but a drawback for others...
Great all around outdoor shirt
- Gender: Male
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I selected this shirt as a part of the OR grassroots program. The shirt is a perfect replacement/compliment to the marmot dri-clime shirts I've lived in for years. Stretchy, breathable, packable, wind-resistant, water-resistant and good fitting. I'm 6'0 and 165#, the Medium fits me perfect. I've used the shirt for climbing, skiing, running and outdoor construction with good results in all categories. It is looking like this shirt will become a part of the "uniform"
Outdoor Research Ferrosi Wind-shirt
I love this wind-shirt, super light weight and compressible. It holds the wind away from the core and is very stretchy when climbing and doing a weird move. It is almost like climbing with no layers. Cool colors and a pocket for a cell phone as well. Great for multi pitch climbing.

Outdoor Research Ferrosi Soft Shell Collection
Searching for a do-it-all soft shell for year-round adventures? A favorite of Ambassador Athletes and Outdoor Research staffers, the stretchy, durable Ferrosi soft shell Jackets, Pants, Shorts and Hoodies cut the wind, shed light precipitation and allow excess heat to easily escape. Ferrosi apparel is ideal for dawn-to-dusk rock climbing objectives, day hikes and multi-day backpacking trips, and highly aerobic backcountry skiing and snowboarding tours.
Great piece! This one performs and can be collapsed to take up almost no spce in the pack. The material is very resillient to abrasion and grants considerable warmth for its weight-so long as you keep moving, this piece actually insulates in the trasitional seasons. The stowaway breast pocket does well for folded maps/gps/bars and the side zip allows for ease of movement. Again, this is a great active windshirt for windy wall exposure, cool hikes, and blustery bike rides. The Ferrosi performs esp. well against abrasion where other lighters pieces would just fall apart or tear. If you like this one, also check out the Hoody version for fuller coverage!
Great Wind Shirt
Pros : Lightweight, Good layer, Comfortable, Durable, Flexible
Cons : Short sleeves
Best Uses : ski touring, City life, Multipitch Cragging, Cragging
I've used this wind shirt several times now. I really like it for cragging and multi pitch climbing. It's lightweight and breathable. I've also been using it for spring ski touring and it work great for a lightweight layer for the uphill.
I do wish the layer would compress into a pocket to clip onto my harness
