From winding trails to steep crags, the Outdoor Research Ferrosi Short features fabric that dries quickly and stretches for mobility and comfort. Pockets galore hold all your trail essentials, and the gusseted crotch lends extra room where room is needed.
Bottom Line: An active trail short for summer days.
Shorts made for hiking, climbing biking anything out doors. Throw a belt on them and go to a cocktail party. They dry quickly and wear comfortably. I now find myself wearing them most days.
Echo all the other comments. Lack of huge bulky cargo pocket is excellent, and the design of the side cargo pocket allows for access when seated without the contents spilling out.
Only negative is that the waist size seems off. I ordered a size 36, and I must use a belt to keep them on, but there is considerable material "gathered" under the tightened belt. They'd be better if they laid flat under the belt.
Given other options, I only wear others when these are in the wash, which isn't often because a quick rinse in a stream, sink, washrack, whatever, and they dry quickly on a line.
I really like these shorts. I bought two pair. They are well made like most other OR products. The material is thin, but tough. They are cut well. Not too big, but not to skinny like many other shorts these days. I was afraid they were going to be a little short, but they hit just below my knee cap, which I like. I am 6'1 with a 33 inch inseam and wear my shorts on my hips. I don't sag them, but I don't pull them way up on my waist either. I really like the cut of the front pockets. The only minor issue I have with the shorts is that there is no closure on the back pockets. These shorts make awesome travel shorts, but without having a button or velcro closure you have to be careful about putting your wallet in the back pockets.

These shorts do it all. I love the stretch and the wicking abilities so you are not soaking wet with sweat from the approach. Nothing makes the alpine wind more chilly than being wet. They climb well also with the stretch and I would not hesitate to hit the bar after wards in these either.

Need I say more? These rigs are like stretch-woven board shorts: long enough through the inseam to wear with a harness--and to not feel self-conscious when being lowered--while light and quick-to-dry, making them ideal for an afternoon dip in the Split Rock swimming hole, after cragging all-day at the Trapps!
I have had my pair for two years-love them. One thing I like about them is that they are low profile-they dont have huge cargo pockets. Consequently they are low resistance and you can run in these very well as well as climb, kayak, hike and downhill bike.
I also own the Prana zions and while they are sweet, the seams on these are much more minimal (less bulky) so I wear these running and would never wear the zions. The zions are great too-but not for fast forward high intensity, high sweat activities like trail running for several hours as these are.
These show little signs of wear after continual, hard, hard use. These are my go shorts for pretty much everything-but I am getting some arc'teryx palisade shorts so we shall see how the two compare.
Bottom line-when you want a minimalist short with tons of stretch that breathe well-these are hard to beat.
