The Outdoor Research Men’s Fanatic Jacket uses absolutely bomber yet lightweight Pertex Shield fabric to keep you totally dry in the worst downpour. This jacket weighs just over 11 ounces and even stuffs into its own pocket for easier transport. Fully taped seams ensure not a drop of water gets through even during a full day of rain. You have no excuse to leave this Outdoor Research jacket behind, so you now have no excuse to get wet in the backcountry.

Bottom Line: You don’t have to sacrifice rain protection to go light.

Sorry to say but this jacket does not preform well at all. I always felt wet. The material is SO thin that it gives the feeling of being wet. Also, condensation on the inside was a big problem with this materail.
I would not reccomend this jacket for any serious hiker. If you are looking for light weight, waterproof, breathable I would go with a Gor-tex Pro Shell fabric.

Fantastic Fanatic Jacket

Ordered about a month and a half ago, ordered came in on the scheduled delivery date. Fit is perfect, love the slightly longer tail. Cinch in waist is also good for keeping rain out and warmth in. Taped zippers work wonderfully, no moisture inside at all. I'm a real small guy; 5'5" 125 lbs, and obviously ordered a small. The jacket fits perfect over my merino wool baselayer and microfleece top in cold conditions, I have absolutely no complaints about this item at all. Incredibly lightweight and packable, yet absolutely bone dry underneath in even the most torrential downpour. Only gripe is the the hood cinch is on the back of the hood and not the front, so reaching around back to tighten up the hood is a little annoying. 5 stars...would recommend to anyone who needs great rain protection.
