Why We Like The Outdoor Research ExtraVert Glove

Whether we're getting in those late spring laps or need some warmth on a snow-covered adventure, the Outdoor Research ExtraVert Gloves give us comfort when cool temps and inclement weather are in the forecast. These gloves feature a stretchy wind- and water-resistant nylon fabric for a streamlined fit and weather protection. A goat leather palm gives us added durability where it's needed most, and the fingertips have a textured grip for better dexterity. The wool-blend liner provides warmth yet remains breathable and quick drying, while the extended cuff and hook-and-loop closure keep the heat in.

Tough gloves

They seemed like warm gloves. Definitely rugged. A bit smaller than the uninsulated gloves from OR that I had before. But I sized up and they fit perfectly.

Top Notch Affordable Glove

I got these as a warranty replacement for an older pair of extraverts. The wool lining remains the same and I'm happy about it, that wool lining comfortably covers most winter temps in NW Ohio. Some of the updates are nice: padded pinky-side of the palm adds good comfort, micro fiber nose wipe to replace the old soft-touch style seems smart and I expect it to last much longer. The loops to pull on have lost width, but are still sturdy and adequate. The middle finger loops to remove the glove have gotten slightly narrower as well, but are supple and easy enough to grab onto. The clip style to attach the gloves to each other have changed as well. These are more difficult to use, but the benefit is gained sturdiness. The gray/green color combo is striking, but versatile and neutral-ish at the same time...Fits great with outdoor gear.

Changed from last year

These gloves were my absolute favorite glove, so I ordered 2 more pairs this year. The sizing has changed and are way tighter. I wear xl gloves and these fit like a large or like some mediums of other brands. They are harder to get on and off when they are wet, plus the palm section of the glove is sewn tighter so it is actually hard to fully open up the hand when these were brand new. Does outdoor research think it's ok to change sizing from year to year?

Exactly What I Wanted!

I love these gloves! They are super warm and heavy enough to wear for shoveling/snowblowing but a little less clunky than some other extra warm gloves I've owned. I also love the high cuff, though they seem to run a little on the small side.

My favourite gloves (but I prefer the previous model)

My Extraverts were by far my go-to gloves, using them 3 seasons in the frigid western Canadian prairies. Even on light-exertion activity like walking the dog, they were comfortable down to -15 to -20C. Also amazing for activities demanding a little more dexterity, like paragliding. Sadly, my in-laws dog tore the finger off my old Extraverts so I had to replace them with the current version which I just received. Unfortunately it appears they've become somewhat more loosely fitting and with less built in articulation in the fingers which I really loved in the prior version. Otherwise they seem like the same great gloves. Bring back the articulated fingers and add an elastic inner cuff rather than the over cuff, and it's a 5+ star from me!

Pinky side padding ruins the glove for ice climbing

I loved the previous extravert, but the addition of the pinky side padding is the exact opposite of what you want for hard ice climbing. Terrible design direction for a multiuse glove, but it's still a good touring glove.
