For the most advanced, high-performance alpine gaiters, look to the Outdoor Research Exos Gaiters. Made from a waterproof, breathable stretch Schoeller WB-Formula shell, these gaiters feature an Elastanium lower interior rand for a durable water-resistant seal, a Stretch Cordura lining, and a laminated Elastanium exoskeleton to add support and maintain form. The burly 2in-wide hook-and-loop front closure is double stitched and features a shear tab to prevent unwanted front separation. A field-replaceable urethane-coated nylon instep strap keeps the Exos firmly in place so you can trudge through the worst of it with total confidence.
Bottom Line: Add some external armor to your wardrobe.

These were good gaiters, the soft shell aspect is really nice and allows for a lot of movement. After a day of full use however, the gray 'strips' started coming undone, and if your a style person- that might bug you.
