Take advantage of the lightweight comfort of the Outdoor Research Equinox Men's Shorts when you hit the trail on a beautiful bluebird day. Their UPF 30+ rating assures excellent sun protection. Just make sure to put sunscreen on your bare legs, so you don't end up with a really strange-looking tan. The Equinox Shorts even have a DWR finish in case you're caught in an unexpected rainstorm without your Equinox pants. When that occurs, the gusseted crotch allows a full range of motion, so you can high-tail it to the trailhead before you're totally drenched.
Bottom Line: The Outdoor Research Equinox Shorts protect you from the sun and dry as fast as you can get them wet. If they did anything else, they'd hike for you.

These shorts from Outdoor Research are not likely to make any Editor's Choice lists, but they are a well-balanced offering from OR. They are light, comfortable, and well cut. There are plenty of unobtrusive zippered pockets, and the integrated belt fits well under a pack hip-pad. All in all a solid choice.
