Shorts you can take to the trail.
The Outdoor Research Men's Equinox Shorts are a classic pair of hiking shorts for hitting the trail with your friends or dog. If it should start to drizzle on you, the DWR finish repels light rain and wind, and a gusseted crotch won't hinder your movement when you scamper back to the car. And on those sunny days, the tightly woven nylon fabric helps to block harmful UV rays for some added peace of mind.

Picked up a 2nd pair
Stoked! Not that Washington is on fire and from 3 miles away Mt Rainier looks fake. But still stoked!

Using lightweight and seemingly durable fabric these shorts cover a lot of bases in terms of hot weather clothing. The fabric has a softer feel then I expected while still being tough.
High hand pockets keep your change from dropping out yet can carry more than most OR pants\shorts. Zippered hip pocket is awesome for storing snacks or your keys while climbing. Keeping them out of the way of a climbing harness.
Fit is pretty standard, a little wide in the legs then some I guess.
All in all these have been a life saver this overly hot summer.
Great for climbers, hikers and casual wear. Running in them isn't bad either.
The only thing to watch out for is the waist belt buckles. The belt isn't hemmed and so the buckle can slip off in the wash or when unbuckled. I solved this by doubling back the webbing through the buckle.
what's the weight of these? Just wondering if its a nice breezy breathable style of shorts you can also swim in, or more a rugged n rough rock climbing style short?
These shorts are 8.6 oz. They are more of an elastic breathable short more so than rugged and rough.
I find them more in the middle ground.
I like them so much I just got a 2nd pair. Very light feeling and nice to run in but still tough enough to handle rock climbing. Very much on the lighter side. Great for hot weather!
Watch the "belt buckle" when washing. The webbing isn't hemmed and the adjustable side can slide off.
I love them, great all round shorts!
What's the inseam on these?
I measured a 34 and the inseam was 11 inches.
