Here's what others have to say...

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit:True to size

These pants are well built and functional, but the fabric is really wrinkly. If you're cool with that, the rest of the features have a lot to offer.

sizing for older and larger waist.I take it that they do not make sizes for say 40 inch waist guys do they?, As I like to wear a Merino underlayer in some seasons I like a larger fit plus at 55 I am no athlete anymore {yeah I had the 32 inch waist in Spec Forces:-}...any help please gang

Very good material, lightweight

This is a great pair of pants. I like the materials and that it is soo lightweight.

It kind of has a traditional look in a way that it designed as a pair of dockers. It is not bad, but the other pants have more elements to enjoy. Fits very well. I ordered the 34 mushroom (brownish). I am 6'1" and 174lb34 waist was perfect, however to me it was about an 1" short. I returned it for that reason without using it. I think as others said it is the perfect pair of hiking pants if you are not too tall.

    Great convertible pant

These pants were the ideal culmination of everything I look for in a convertible hiking pant. They look great as pants, with the zippers hardly noticeable, and they look even better as shorts. The material is durable, allowing me to trounce through the scrubby desert without worry. They are light, yet surprisingly insulating when the temps drop. I have rocked these pants below freezing with a base layer and felt great, and as shorts when the temps get into the 90s. Simple design by the outdoor industry leader, OR, makes these pants super functional without making you look like a tool.

We need a size 28-30.. do these come in that size normally???
Or does anyone have any suggestions on other similar styles in these sizes???

The smallest size on OR's website is 32. I'm not aware of any styles that have those sizes off the top of my head, but I'll keep an eye out.

      Awesome pant

The first trip these pants saw was to Mt. Rainier in July. They were the perfect pant with an baselayer to get from the visitor's center to Camp Muir. Super lightweight but good at blocking wind. I'll be using them this weekend to summit Ruby Dome in Northern Nevada.

Are any of the pockets zippered?
        How many rear pockets?

2 pockets in the back that close with loop closures

2 front pockets do not zipper

There are 2 rear pockets with hook and loop closure, but no zip pockets.

        Pant a lants

I totally dig these pants- the zippers on the bottom of the leg are a life saver. They repel light water and clean/dry very easily. The nylon is much softer than some of my cheapo zip-off's, and they seem to breathe much better. I wish they had a cargo pocket! Pretty happy with these basic zip-offs though. I wear a 32x32 but sized up to a 34- might be a mistake on a thru-hike due to weight loss, but for weekend wars it was a good call.

Hello. I bought a version of these 3 years ago and the Supplex crinkled/wrinkled very easily, took forever for the wrinkles to come out, and the pants were very noisy - noisier than any of my other all-nylon pants from Arc'teryx, LL Bean, Ex Officio, and Columbia. Does anyone know if the OR fabric used in these pants have been updated and caught up with the nylon fabrics used in many others? Thanks!

I am totally with you . I had the same pants, but gave OR another try. SUPER happy. soft sanded supplex nylon, quiet, not crunchy. They really made a nice change!

Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to answer. I'll pick a pair up soon!

The one thing I was worried about before buying these was if the zipper that separates would be too easily felt and that it would rub harshly on my knee, but that was not the case at all. The are light and breathable. I only have one complaint, I wear 32x32 and got the regular length and that was great when standing up, but when i sit down the pant bottom rises up a little too high.

Awesome... I find that is my worst fear with Convert pants as well. Especially if I get damp, it will tear the skin right off my legs

What is the inseam on a size 34 waist pants?

From the size chart, it looks as if you would be wearing a large, which has a 33 inch (84 cm) inseam.

            Nice pants

I got these really cheap on I'd have trouble buying them at full price but at 50% off who can complain? Vey light and breathable, not at all intended for harsher weather.
