The Outdoor Research Men's Cathode Insulated Vest delivers a shot of lightweight, low-profile warmth to keep your core warm in cold, damp conditions. Toss it over a flannel on blustery afternoons around town, slip it on when you're on belay, or wear it under a shell when you hit the skintrack before the sun comes up.
PrimaLoft Gold insulation delivers surprising warmth given how light and compressible it is, and the Pertex Quantum fabric staves off light precipitation and heat-robbing wind. Schoeller stretch side panels let you move freely so you can ski, climb, or hike in comfort. The trim fit maximizes insulating efficiency and ensures the Cathode fits under your technical jacket, and the whole vest stuffs into its own pocket for easy storage once your blood starts pumping and you need to cool off.

After getting this vest it has become my go-to for hikes, going to work, and other times when I just need a bit of insulation. This works great as a stand-alone and as a layer; I often wear it under my rain jacket. One of my favorite things about this is how well it breathes, and you never really get stuffy in it. The sides have stretch fabric which also helps dump excess heat. The final cool feature is that it packs down into its own pocket to about the size of my hand. This has quickly become my favorite vest.
