Hunker down into the high 'Elvis' collar of your new Outdoor Research Men's Camber Softshell Jacket and wait for the worst of the pelting to pass. Once the barrage subsides, you can pop out and begin lobbing well-placed projectiles into the enemy ranks. The Windstopper shell fabric eliminates the windy sting as your snowballs find their mark and faint whimpering can be heard across the field of battle. A slightly more generous-than-usual cut accommodates extra layers for the frigid temperatures and for the final head-on attack that will seal the fate of those who dare to stand against you.

Bottom Line: All-out war.

OR Camber Jacket

Great jacket! Just spent 4 days in Washinton D.C. In 20 deg. temps with 40-50 mph wind gusts and this bad boy delivered all that it is billed to be. Can't comment on degree of water repelance since we had only dry weather. But wind be warned this jacket will take it. The fit seems to be true to size. The extra tall collar is wonderful as it comes up high enough on the back of your neck to cover between your neckline and the bottom of your hat without covering so much of your face as to be an annoyance. The front hand pockets are deep and well placed, as is the front chest pocket. Plenty of room to carry your essentials in your shell. The draw cords on the hem and collar also easily adjustable and work well. Would recommend highly!

And now for something a little different...

Things I like:
- the cut of this jacket is on the longer side, I get full cheek coverage.
- the over sized collar. nice when you want it and lays flat when not using it.
- grid fleece backing. underlayers still grab it some, but its better than other types of fleece lining.
- Cuffs. They are pretty good as adjustable cuffs go, with a design to minimize bunching up when cinching down.
- Drawstrings at the hem and neck
- Pockets. good number and placement. Hand ones are lined and huge.

Other notes:
-Fit: backcountry's listing of this as "loose" fit is completely inaccurate. Seems to be designed for people with slim builds and small frames, you will need to size up if you have any mass in your chest, or gut. It is loose in the arms though, to accommodate layers nicely.
-warmth: fleece backing is light but not ultra thin. About on par with TNF apex bionic.
- windproof: it's completely windproof, no question.
-cost?: Even though this is a well put together jacket made with good materials, the retail price point seems a bit high.

I own and have owned many softshells, and like this one for the couple of things that make it different, such as the longer cut and high collar. That, and it does what it's supposed to - block the elements while remaining breathable and not hampering my movement.
