Hey,

It will keep sand out just fine if you are talking about it simply kicking up on the sides of your boots/shoes. However, if you are walking in deep sand that would be past boot/shoe height then you may have some issue keeping it out.

Probably will keep the bugs at bay (have other bugout items), but a Man's Small and a Man's Medium would not fit my 5'3" ladies frame (140 lb.) No big thunder thighs or calves here but both men's sizes would not close around the top unless I cut off my circulation! Sorry to send back, I do have the Expedition Men's Small gaiter which just fits!

Yep. They're not waterproof, but they'll keep the water off pant legs and out of the top of shoes.

The Bugout Gaiters will work great for trail running. Although the Flex-tex gaiters have a more contoured fit and will breathe a bit easier.

thanks!
