No matter how you layer for that magical March powder day, just make sure the Outdoor Research Boundless Jacket is on top to keep out the snow as it splashes onto your chest. Sink into each life-fulfilling turn with this fully seam taped shell’s waterproof breathable 3-layer Pertex Shield fabric keeping you dry with the help of a zip-out powder skirt and adjustable storm hood, which ensures you feel exhilaration, not penetration, when you find your first face-deep turn.
Brushed tricot lining in the collar and key areas of your torso add a bit of warmth and comfort as the wind rages between snow squalls
Relaxed fit accommodates the necessary layers for constantly changing mountain weather
Two-way front zipper with storm flap and water-resistant pocket zippers prevent leaks in wet, spring snow
CrossFlo vents stretch from your chest to your hips so you can expel excess heat and let in some cool air as you hike where the chairs don’t go
Hook-and-loop cuffs tighten your sleeves over your gloves so you don’t get soggy, cold wrists
Chest pocket with an integrated media port holds your music player as you play air-guitar with your ski poles in the tram line
RECCO reflector on the jacket’s shoulder gives you a little confidence in the event of an inbounds avalanche
Bottom Line: Deep storm days and the Boundless Jacket go together like après bars and smelly boots.

This jacket is pretty awesome; ordered it on a whim and I'm very pleased with it. Went with an XL and it fits perfectly for my frame...6'4 ~210lbs..Plenty of room for layering yet not overly baggy. Big hood to accomodate a helmet and the neck zips up high to protect your grill. Took it to Winter Park, CO this last weekend and it kept me dry and warm. You'll need a layer or two in extreme cold since its only a shell but in the 30's I was doing ok with a long sleeve tee underneath. The chest vents were nice too when things started heating up a little bit. Got some nice air flowing in when cruising down the slopes. Great jacket, I'm thinking about buying the blue one now....
was wondering if anyone has this jacket and what they thought about the fit and if it is waterproof? Im 5'9 155 and like my jackets to fit kind snug. The website says it has a relaxed fit so I was thinking about going for a small. Any waterproof rating like 10,000 or 20,000mm? Any info is appreciated.
Hey Dan, So im 5"10 150 ish and the jacket fits great. I bought a large because i was looking for something a bit bigger for powder and such. If you do want it to fit a bit more snug i would get the med. Also i dont know the rating on the jacket but its super solid ive been out skiing with it almost 20days since i got it and many of those days were dumping in crested butte. No chance water will get in, also all the zippers are watherproof, which is super nice!!!

I picked this jacket up so I could have something for resort, sidecountry, and backcountry trips. OR doesn't really list a waterproof rating on the pertex, but it seems like the information out there has it around the equivalent of 20k. It's been pretty much bombproof in my experience. The only minor complaint I have is that the colors aren't quit as popping as the pictures make them appear and are a bit more dull. I got the yellow off of S&C and it was more of a mustard color than a canary yellow.
Since it is a shell you'll need to layer up if you want to stay warm on super cold days, but I've found it to be plenty big in a L for layering as a 6' 185 male. I've found that the chest vents, rather than pits, are really well placed since it's easy to get them up and down without having to take my pack off. The shoulder, back, and chest lining make it a very comfortable jacket and the integrated Recco Reflector is a nice touch on the off-chance of an inbounds event. Overall, I think it is a very nice alternative to the more expensive Gore Pro shells for someone looking to do day excursions or sidecountry skiing / boarding.
Does anyone have this jacket? Can you tell me about it? The OR web site lists a drawcord internal pocket with pass holder not listed here...What is this pocket like? Big enough to hold goggles?
The inner pocket is a pass pocket with a Velcro closing. It is just big enough to fit large thin objects, but that's about it. There are two inner mesh pockets on both sides of the jacket, and the right side has a snap closure that easily holds my goggles.
I bought this jacket after much deliberation. I like inside pockets, and only a couple are listed here. The jacket actually has a small stuff it pocket with a snap closure and another small stuff it pocket in addition to the pockets listed in the description. Perfect. I wear a medium in almost every jacket I own (I'm 5"10" 155)but the medium in this jacket is way big, so I ended up with the small, which still left plenty of room for layering... I wore the jacket for 6 days straight skiing in Breck with the temp ranging from -36F to 20F, in dumping snow as well as heavy wind and the jacket was awesome. I skied the trees and the jacket is bombproof, and wind and water did not penetrate. As good as any Gore Tex jacket I have owned, without the price tag. The Chest to waist venting was convenient for reaching inner pockets and much easier to see and maneuver than pit zips. Powder skirt did its job. This jacket shows the same great quality that OR puts into all its mountaineering and outdoor products. As an aside, Backountry is one of the best companies I have ever dealt with, the return policy, as well as the customer service and CARE! is outstanding. The reps went out of there way to ensure that I recieved my small jacket before I went on my trip after finding the medium way too big. Jacket and Backcountry both winners.
