Need a breathable softshell that can withstand serious alpine abuse? The Outdoor Research Women's Alibi Softshell Jacket was born for this sort of thing. Waterproof panels on the shoulders and hood shed snow and rain, and a highly water-resistant body breathes superbly as you work up a sweat. As your day intensifies, adjust the long venting zippers for extra ventilation. A helmet-compatible hood features an inner liner that you can slip under your helmet and a shell that fits over it. And an internal cuff gaiter with thumb loops makes sure your hands don't get numb.
Bottom Line: Warmth + protection.... And it breathes too? We like it.

The Alibi has really delivered for me this ice/alpine climbing season. I have stayed warm and dry in the craziest of conditions. This softshell sheds water and breathes so I stay dry inside. The bells and whistles are pretty cool: thumb gaiters that close the gap that can form between a jacket sleeve and your glove and a secret, attached helmet liner that when not in use stores neatly in neck area of jacket. However...my favorite feature...and this is so simple...is the small zip pocket on the upper left side of jacket. I store a pair of hand warmers, lip balm, a readily available snack. Most jackets only have lower pockets that become unavailable when I am wearing a climbing harness. I am psyched OR included the pocket on the Alibi. I have climbed thirty days in this jacket, washed it and it still looks brand new. I wear a medium and find the Alibi is true to size with plenty of room for layers.
