Take a break from the storm in the Advanced Bivy, Outdoor Research's most progressive bivy. The innovative two-pole design creates an adjustable awning that allows you to modify the angle of the over-head roof, and thus the size of the zipper opening, to match your environmental conditions. Rain or snow runs down the roof off the wide storm flap and onto the ground. When wind kicks up, reduce the zipper opening to prevent moisture blowing in. By adjusting the pole positions on the inside of the bivy, you can vary the size of the opening from roughly a 45-degree angle to full-on stargazing mode — all with the removable no-see-um netting in place to keep bugs out. The extra room under the awning also creates a great place to store your boots. Patented sleeping-pad straps secure your pad to the bivy so you don't have to deal with the zlip-zlap-zlide battle between nylon pad and taffeta floor all night long. A small internal mesh pocket is perfect for storing things like contact lens cases or lip balm. The upper is constructed from lightweight ripstop Gore-Tex®, while the floor is Hydroseal-200 coated taffeta; which, combined with full seam taping, create a waterproof, breathable barrier between you and Mother Nature's wrath. The Outdoor Research bivy also has 6 guy-line loops to tie down in extreme wind.
