Love all over

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Five stars for the bag; exactly what I was looking for and agree with the other reviews that have highlighted the strengths of the transporter 46. The bag looked smaller than expected, but swallowed everything I loaded into it. The material is very durable and will last years. I'm very happy with the bag and am looking at adding a larger one.

Five more stars (10 stars total) for Backcountry and the great service I've received on all my orders. Big "thank you" and kudos to Jim in CS for getting my shipment out and to me in time to use for an important trip. Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!

Great and surprising

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I bought this for a carry on for a trip to the Galapagos. It is the same dimensions as Delta's website requirement. When it arrived I thought it looked stupidly small and was thinking it wouldn't work for me. Well, I was wrong. This thing fills up and expands fantastically. I fit my full length wet suit, full size flippers and snorkel gear, keene sandals, and clothes for 5 days in it. This thing was brilliant. Went on boats, planes, camped, and whatever else and it still looks brand new. It folds into itself so it stores away with minimal space.

Complaint:
The shoulder strap is horribly uncomfortable and slippery when it is completely full. It's best to wear it across your body. I plan on finding a old shoulder strap pad from some other bag and using it on this.

Excellent Duffel

I love this duffel bag. Use it on anything, from camping, to eventually airplane trips. I expect it will fit fine in most overhead compartments. You can fit quite a lot in this bag. The bottom fabric is super durable, and the compression straps do a pretty good job holding things down. The carrying handle feels good as it it cushioned well, better than just the straps. More pockets could be nice, but all in all very pleased with it!

Awesome Bag

Simple duffel design from Osprey, who knows a thing or two about building tough bags. The 1680D nylon bottom is very tough, and the straps compress things nicely. Packed full, the 46 is probably right at the upper limit of what is allowed as a carry-on.

Classic Carryon

Perfect bag for frequent short business trips -- looks good, feels solid, and carries just enough for 2-3 days with ease. You can't go wrong with the Transporter duffel, especially at this surprisingly affordable price.

Great Carry-On Bag!

This is a pretty sweet duffel bag and is a little different than the 60L Duffel. The 60L has 2 end pockets while the 46L only has the 1 side pocket. The 46L is Carry-On, the 60L is not. both bags fold up into the side pocket for easy storage when not in use. Both have the easy pull tabs on the zippers.

Osprey 46

Just used this bag, primarily as an airport carry on, to Glacier NP and others. It folds out of it's own pocket and that pocket becomes an outside stuffer pocket when the bag is in use. From it's small size it opens up to a great expandable bag. One inner pocket in the lid holds a few flat ittems. Well made, sturdy and able to hold a lot of weight. The only draw back that I can see is that the detachable shoulder strap doesn't have a shoulder pad and when the bag is loaded it puts an extra strain on the shoulder muscle. This would be a 5 star item with a little more support in the shoulder strap area.

Does it have a "wet" pocket? Something with tarp lining to wet thins like trunks, socks, gloves, etc?
