Wanted to love it, sooo bad!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Pros: It looks great, fits better than most (M/L) of other competing brands, ventilation is amazing! (For reference: I'm 205 lbs at 6 ft.) Function and capacity is perfect. (2-3 hour MTB ride I packed: Full bladder, 1 tube, Mini-Pump, CO2 Pump and 3 cartridges, Multi-Tool, Small First-Aid kit, Snack bag of Wet Ones, handlebar Bike light and headlamp for emergencies, windbreaker, arm-warmers, and enough nutrition and a lunch.) :)

Cons: Pretty heavy dry weight, then add a full 3L hydration bladder. :( Outer stretch pockets are hard to get to, I'm pretty flexible for a big guy too.

Major Con: When out on 3 hour MTB rides, with some technical terrain, the pack kept hitting me in the back of the neck. When ducking under branches or on technical descents, it would ride up on the back of my neck and catch on my helmet dial(this may/may not happen depending on your helmet). But honestly, it shouldn't happen at all. It moves way too much, even with hip/waist belt on, which I dislike...a lot!

*I gave this a good 3 long-hard tries. 20+ miles / 3+ hours each time, on some intermediate and technical terrain. I tried loosening/tightening the shoulder straps and load straps to make it sit a little lower on my back, but it moved way to much. Even with the waist belt on/off, etc. I just could not get this configured properly. And I loathe waist belts.

So if your going long, and ride intermediate to technical trails, this may not be the solution for you. But for Fire/Jeep Roads, gravel, or road biking(great ventilation, shape), I think this would be a great hydration solution.

In the end, I will going with a running hydration vest, which I use for trail running, and hiking. It doesn't move and no waist belt! Yay!

Sweet pack.

Fits great. Magnetic attachment is super handy. Love the venting on my back. And pockets are perfect.

Love Osprey Packs!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This pack is just the right size for a good, solid go-to for most of the riding done in the Wasatch (i.e., Park City, 1 - 3 hour rides). Big enough to haul water, food, tools and some extra clothes but not too big as to be cumbersome. The Airspeed suspension is killer.

Great Pack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Historically - I've always used Camelbaks for biking. But when I wanted a hydration backpack for hiking - the Osprey Syncro 10 was a better size and had more user friendly pockets for quick access. Very pleased with this purchase.
