Held up great 15 days in Europe
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I purchased this bag for a 15 day trip to Europe. I checked this and carried on a smaller bag. 6 plane trips and many thumping steps and curbs later this bag is in one piece and served me well the entire time. I will be using it any time I need a checked bag. Did not need the alternate backpack straps, but I did pull them out and try the bag that way. Not as comfortable as my backpack, but more than adequate for short trips between hotels, destinations. I recommend this bag to anyone who needs just a little more than carry on size will allow, and also wants the convenience and versatility of wheels and backpack carry.
Osprey Fall '09 Packs Sojourn & Meridian
Just what I was looking for!
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I read through the comments and was very excited to get this bag for my upcoming backpacking trip. I will be traveling for a month non-stop so I needed a versatile bag I can use that will allow me enough room for what I need while being easy to manage. This bag is perfect! The straps do take up some of the interior space, but I always think it's better to err on the side of packing too little than too much. The quality is great and I am super pleased with my purchase.
I should have read the comments.

I wanted a carry on, and this is in the carry on category. It is a great bag, but too large to carry on.
Osprey Sojourn Series Travel Luggage
Love the bag, wish it could keep up...
I love Osprey packs and was stoked to get this bag. I recently got married and my husband and I went to Colombia for our honeymoon and this bag was the perfect size! The backpack straps made it easy to get around when walking through streets I couldn't roll my bag through. After flying through JFK, Bogota International and Cartagena, I picked my bag up to find one of the wheels broke off. It looks like a screw might have come loose or broke while being transfered. Bummer to have luggage break the first trip you take to break it in. Especially since the bag is pretty expensive!
I researched alot of bags in my attempt to find the perfect travel bag for my extended 'holidays'. I go out and about for 2+ months at a time and need a compact bag that will hold lots of gear. I settled on the Osprey and couldn't be happier. Perfect amount of room and durable. And backcountry.com is awesome....got the bag within 2 days with normal shipping!
I like the bag but I was disappointed because it was sold on the bag because it was advertised as a carry on approved by the airlines and sadly it is not.
My only concern are the wheels on this...
My only concern are the wheels on this unit. Being that we all know how them baggage handlers at the air ports love to throw things around. My question is, has anyone had any problems with having the wheels break or broken???
I've taken it on both train and plane and the chassis and wheels withstood both just fine. Actually, the entire unit survived just fine. Not crazy about most everything else about this one though.
see my comment above - eagle creek will take care of you if anything breaks - thats why you dont go with american tourist as a brand - buy expensive if you can and cry only once.
Is this bag suitable for carry-on? There...
Is this bag suitable for carry-on? There are no dimensions listed.
Sojourn 25 Dimensions: 26.8 x 14.6 x 13 inches
Max carry on size is typically around 22 x 14 x 9in - these are probably a little too big.
