Backpack suitcase for adventure travelers.
- The Porter’s wide-mouth opening and spacious internal dimensions (22 x 14 x 9in) are meant to accommodate bulky, oversized gear (like ski boots)
- The Porter utilizes foam sidewalls that securely compress the contents of the pack and transfer weight to the hip-belt regardless of load size
- To reduce bulk when the pack is more than 2/3 full, buckle the compression straps across the front of the pack
- Zip-away harness and removable hip-belt mean you can carry the Porter as a backpack or as a more traditional piece of luggage

Osprey Packs Porter 46 Backpack - 2800cu in
As with all Osprey bags I have owned, this thing is bombproof, super durable, and very comfortable. I loaded it up with about a weeks worth of clothes and accessories and had plenty of room to spare. I plan on taking this bag with me as my one and only carry on for a 2-3 month trip to europe. I highly recommend this bag for travel.

I have an 18.4" laptop and I need a pack that will accommodate it with accessories. Has anyone had luck with this size?
You should be able to fit your laptop in there.
LOVE this pack!
I purchased this pack for a 2 week trip to Italy and could not be happier with my choice! This is the first time I've done a trip of this length with carry-on luggage only - I am now a huge fan of traveling light!! Between this pack and a few compression bags (which I used only to keep things compact and neat, not in an attempt to carry more stuff!), it was a cinch to carry everything I needed in this and a small daypack. Even after purchasing souvenirs, everything fit! :-) While some may consider it a negative, I love the fact that there aren't a lot of outside pockets (or inside for that matter). I kept my stuff organized in the main compartment with multiple compression bags, and didn't have to go hunting through a dozen pockets looking for things. Without exterior pockets, straps and zippers are kept to a minimum, and when then pack is closed and the compression straps secured, it's very neat and clean. (My travel partners pack had several outside pockets, and she was constantly opening every one trying to find stuff, not to mention her pack ended up being almost as wide as it was tall when all the pockets were stuffed.)
I used this as a backpack with the waistband on a couple of longer treks from train to hotel, and it was very comfortable, but it's also easy to carry by the handles, which are large enough and nicely padded so they don't dig into your fingers. I really appreciated the handles for hoisting it into and out of overhead bins, too. This is a really well-designed bag and I look forward to using it for years to come! It is not only extremely functional, it is also very nice looking! (I got the earth brown color - I really like having something other than black or gray, without being obnoxious or loud.)
great bag for easy traveling
we bought two of these bags for a two week trip through italy and they were perfect. it was just enough room for two weeks work of stuff, but were very easy to carry and pretty comfortable as a backpack. the bag is extremely light and rigid enough to support your back and the contents. just enough pockets (two internal, two external) help keep things organized. this is the best bag i've ever traveled with and would recommend it to anyone.
the part that i might be the most stoked about is that osprey has a lifetime guarantee so no matter how the bag might be damaged, we can send them in and they will fix it or send us a new one. brilliant.
How easy is it to cycle with this pack,...
How easy is it to cycle with this pack, full, on one's back? My sister and I plan to bring folding bikes to Sweden for Midsummer. The most we'll be riding the bikes is about 18 miles, but I imagine there will be many times when we'll carry the gear on our backs off the bikes as well.
As from my experience with Osprey, you won't be disappointed with the performance or comfort of this pack. It should be super easy to use this pack for cycling.
great little bag
i picked this thing up to use as a carry on for my ski trips, and it works very well. it is the perfect dimension and fits a ton of stuff thinks to the compression straps. the backpack straps arnt the most comfortable but they werent designed to be. they work great for standing in line at the airport and carrying around the hotels and villages when need be. planning on purchasing a large rolling duffel to accompany my TNF duffle and osprey is the only brand i will be looking at.
