This bag has lasted me a couple years so far. I have only a few complaints. One, the colors for 'purple' on this older model is actually a maroon color that I kind of hate in retrospect. Too bad there wasn't a mariposa color when I bought it. I wish I could dye the bag real purple but it would probably look gross on the inside mint green and logo areas if I did that. This one is pretty big, which is great for travel when it needs to fully expand, but maybe too big to have no thicker belt harness for additional back support, the straps just don't cut it down below. For school and carrying it around everyday it's too much material and not enough compression straps. I feel like there needs to be an additional compression strap or two on the bottom of the bag when all the extra room is not in use because when I am just using the small organizational pockets for pens and calculators and my phone up front, and the back laptop compartment for my laptop and a book, the main compartment sags down a lot and makes the profile of the bag look dumpy most of the time with or without stuff in it. Also since this isn't waterproof at all that kind of stinks for me since I live in the Seattle area. I still love the look of the Osprey bags and the quality. Almost wish this one were falling apart though so I could try a different pack though. Lastly I'm just not a fan of the netting on the front. I knew I wouldn't be using this compartment when I bought the bag, but the look didn't bother me. However, it snags on stuff a lot and the fabric runs so it's a little torn up now.
Splits open for TSA
I hate taking my computer out of its protective case at the airport. NO LONGER! The Nova (and men's Nebula) actually open with a zipper all the way down, so you can splay it open, where there is no issue going through the airport . The pack has great organization and features too! Love it!
Great Backpack with a lot of pockets
- Familiarity: I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Works well for school and the backcountry! The fit is comfortable and is easily adjustable. All around great backpack!
What size laptop fits inside the laptop compartment? Is it spacious enough for a 17 in laptop, and potentially a travel monitor screen at 17 in in addition to a laptop? It's an odd request, but can't find specifics anywhere for measurements for inside the laptop compartment. Thanks!!
Hey there - thank you for the question. I just tried my 15" in the Nova sample I have here and it fits, but also shows me that there is no way a 17" will fit! Give me a moment and let me get back to you on which Osprey packs will accommodate a 17". Stay tuned!
