I love this backpack!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Been looking around for a nice day pack to put miscellaneous stuff in for my bike commute to and from work. This bag fits the bill and more. I will be using it for hikes as well as packing my climbing gear in to go to the gym.

The bag has multiple pockets to organize your stuff in and ample space for an extra layer, computer, or hydration.

One really cool thing I found upon inspecting it was a retractable key ring inside the right shoulder strap. The shoulder pockets are not bid enough to hold my iPhone4 but I put my multitool in the left and my house key on the right.

This bag will also be ideal for school. So if you are looking for something to pack all of your books I would highly recommend this backpack.

Versatile capacity and humanized design. Worth the price.

Great all-around pack

I have had the Momentum for two years now, I have the 26 liter model but the features mirror those of the 26. It has served me very well.

It gets used for school, shopping, bombing around town and as of late I tuck the straps in the back panel and use it as a briefcase at the office. That has to be one of the coolest things ever. I have used in on the bike to commute a few times but find that the back panel does not offer enough ventilation and caused me to show up with a sweaty shirt.

It can easily carry a laptop (in the separately-padded laptop sleeve), two textbooks, charger, and a water bottle.

Rugged construction also allows you to take it to the trail if you want. This bag has seen considerable use as a camera bag while snowshoeing and hiking.

Get this bag if you want a good-looking bag that knows how to get it done.

Is this big enough for school books, binder, ect.?

Responded on

Yes it is big enough for those things. I have the 24 liter model and I carry a laptop, notebooks and a thick law book or two to and from school. I highly recommend this bag. Great construction and the added rainfly is a huuuuuge plus!

Everything about this bag is awesome! The color (yellow), the quality, the size, the attention to detail... It is an amazing backpack that I can tell will last for years and years. I've used it over a dozen times and love it more every day!

For the dedicated commuter

Now this is one well-thought-out design. The 26L model has an abundance of useable space without feeling like too much...I can't imagine why anyone would need a 34L model. But anyway, I use this pack every day to haul a full business-casual outfit to/from work, plus a bag lunch, the occasional file folder, iPad and/or laptop (15"), and all my sundries. There is still room for more if you need it, but if you don't this pack holds whatever you throw at it without slop or shifting around on your back. I love all the details...the retractable key-chain holder inside the right shoulder strap, the cell-phone holder on the left (which fits a large-screen smartphone), the small mesh opening at the bottom in case of a spill or unanticipated rain shower, a bomb-proof built-in rain-fly which keeps everything perfectly dry (including riveted drain opening at the bottom in case water should find its way in...which mine hasn't), dog whistle designed into the sternum strap...and on and on. The straps are comfortable but the slight bulk of the strap-pockets takes some getting used to. It feels a little like wearing a life preserver. This pack lays flat on your back, and will pick up sweat. You will not arrive at your destination sweat-free, so just be aware. The color is a bright but not garish mustard-yellow with reflective accents front & rear, including the rain-fly. Internal pockets store everything, including an integrated U-lock sleeve. The outermost compartment is soft-lined for scratch-susceptible items. Mesh pockets on the side lay flat, but can easily hold a water bottle each if needed. The helmet clip has adjustable tension to hold that onto the pack securely, and all the straps (shoulder + belt) fold into the pack for toting around the airport, made easy with the integrated side luggage handle. Zipper pulls are another great detail that makes everything so easy to operate. I mean wow...what a pack. Overkill for the casual commuter, but if you ride day in & day out in all weather (because you don't have a 2nd car and don't want one), this is the answer

Following up, I've been through a few hard rain storms with this pack. I had the rain-fly deployed, and none of my stuff inside the pack got the slightest bit wet. I kind of wish the cellphone pocket on the shoulder strap was rain-proof too, but that's easily remedied with a Ziploc bag

I was looking at getting this because i want to stand out while riding. Does anyone have the yellow one? is it a true Very Bright yellow?

Responded on

It is indeed a very bright yellow. It isn't quite as bright as the picture, but it is B.R.I.G.H.T.!

Responded on

no this pack is definitually not the color as depicted in the picture. i was rather frustrated when i expected to receive a true yellow pack and actually received a pack that was more of the color of the quasar ospray pack- a golden BROWN. very subtial and not what is depicted... a disapointment

GreatPac

The only downside to my purchase is that I wish I ordered the larger size. The 26 is good to fit one change of clothes, a mid-weight jacket, shoes, laptop, and other little items on the outer pockets like H20 bottles, keys, cell phone, etc. There's plenty of adjustabilty on the shoulder straps to make it fit just right.

Boom

Love it. Its a little tight for my 15 inch mac book pro but other than that it is awesome. Dakine and Burton bags can not compare. Rain cover is rad too!

Responded on

What size did you get? I have a 15 inch MacBook Pro too and want to know what size to get...

Responded on

I got one with s/m size and it can fit a 15 inch Macbook Pro in the compartment.
