Has anyone carried this bag onto a budget...

Posted on

Has anyone carried this bag onto a budget airline in Europe, like easyJet or Aegian Air? I know they can be strict about the size guidelines and include wheel/handle length. Has it worked out? Thanks!

Very sturdy

The zippers and wheels much better than the Eagle Creek version of this backpack. Also we love the sleek style. The straps are comfortable and easy to adjust, but if you're a wide person the wheels may hit your hips a bit.

Don't know

Will have tolet you know in a few weeks, when I use it to travel home to the UK. Size wise it seems perfect!

Another great Osprey purchase

I've yet to be let down by any Osprey bag, and this is no exception. I am currently on a three week trip in Mexico, and this bag is doing the trick very well. The wheels and handle are definitely durable - no sign of wear yet. The zip off day pack is killer, and has come in handy numerous times already. The fabric is really durable, and I gotta admit, I love the blue. It's really pretty. I was able to fit A LOT of necessities in this bag, so the size seems fine. As a carry-on bag - it's the way to go.

What kind of straps does the daypack have?...

What kind of straps does the daypack have? Are they comfortable? How do they stow? Thanks.

Best Answer Responded on

Similar to the ones found on their packs. You can see them in the 3rd and 5th detail photos. Pretty comfortable.

The straps do not stow in a zippered pocket, but they do pack away really nicely when zipped onto the rolling luggage...

Very Versatile

Had two trips since I bought this Osprey Meridian and was impressed with the space, comfort and versatility of the bag. Easy to handle, so far no signs of weak wheel frame damage still looking solid and compact enough to take as carry on. Make sure you take the back pack attachment though.

Great Carry on

I was surprised how much I could pack in this, went on a week long trip to Europe with just this. It was great just taking a carry on (though we did have to check on the way back as the European airline wouldn't let us carry on). Rolls great, has a tall handle which was really nice. Held up fine being checked on the way back.

Does the detachable daypack have a side-pocket for a water bottle?

Best Answer Responded on

There is a zippered pocket on the side of the pack, but it is only big enough to fit one of those slimmer water bottles (think Klean Kanteen) and not a wider bottle like the standard 32oz Nalgene bottle...

Best Piece of Carry-on Luggage I've Ever Purchased

This is, without exception, the coolest and best-designed piece of carry-on luggage I've ever purchased. The built-in backpack straps give this carry-on luggage true dual functionality for traversing both airport terminals and the great outdoors. Also, designing the day-pack to attach to / detach from the carry-on piece is brilliant. It's as if this piece of luggage was designed by someone who actually spends ample amounts of time outdoors instead of someone trapped in a cubicle all day :)

This Bag Rocks!

This bag is awesome! I am continually impressed by Osprey's gear. This is not a huge travel bag but is everything you could want. I have already taken it on a couple trips and it is extremely durable, versatile, and easy to use. It has plenty of space for anything you could want. The added ditty-bag feature makes it easy to grab things you might need without having to dig through your entire bag. The daypack attached is nicer then the majority of daypacks I have owned and extremely spacious. I fit my laptop, books, clothes, chargers, food, and drinks, all in the day pack. Because of the frame from having the entire suitcase turn into a backpack, you do lose a little room inside the suitcase but not much. You have more than enough room to fit everything and then some.

Great Travel Bag

Depending on where we are going my wife and I try not to check in luggage. It leaves the door open for too many possible issues that can really derail a trip if your luggage is lost or delayed for a day or two. We got her the Meridian 22 because you can carry it on. It's an overall great travel bag. It's well made and very well designed. It pays to get a travel pack from a company with experience making backpacks. The design and adjust options for the backpack straps make it very easy and comfortable to carry. The roller wheels are sturdy and do not get in the weigh or push against your back when carrying the bag as a backpack. All the buckles and handles are sturdy and don't feel they are going to tear or rip off when the bag is fully packed. We recently spent 9 days travelling around Argentina and the bag was perfect. The smaller day pack that zips off the front is comfortable to carry and also well designed.

Note: you are better off getting the bag to fit in the airline overhead bins without the small backpack attached. My wife carries the small backpack as a personal item that goes under the seat and the larger pack goes up above.

I have the larger Meridian bag that is too large to carry on. It's a great bag, but the only downfall is that you can't carry it on. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong with Osprey Travel packs. Both from my experience and that fact that I see them everywhere when I travel (Europe, Asia, South America), so they clearly have a strong following around the world as a reliable travel pack. They can be a bit pricey, but worth it. My only negative is that the lichen green color is pretty ugly in my opinion. The black and grey or blue and grey are a lot better looking.

***Update 11/14/2011**
I just got back from a trip to Borneo, Indonesia using this bag. It was great and I had no problem carrying it on some smaller regional airlines in Asia. I still highly recommend this bag.

Perfect size . . .

I got this pack because I was starting to travel more and needed a roomy carry-on.

This bag is great. Just big enough without being too bulky. The main bag has plenty of room and separate pockets. It held everything I needed for a week and I really like the toiletries zipper pocket--very easily accessible for airport security. The zip-off backpack is what makes this pack the best. It has a padded laptop sleeve and dividers for water bottles and expands to hold LOTS of stuff. Easily re-attached to the main bag for wheeling through airports. Seems very durable and you can't beat Osprey's warranty to fix or repair the bag for its lifetime.
