Osprey designed the Women's Luna 85 backpack with a custom-molded BioForm hipbelt and women-specific harness to balance huge loads on multi-day trips into the backcountry. Osprey knows comfort is paramount so they created this large capacity pack in three women's sizes for optimal fit. The Luna 85's ReCurve suspension is specifically designed to accommodate the relatively shorter torsos, narrower shoulders, and tighter curves of the feminine form. You can also custom heat-mold the Luna's BioForm CM hip-belt at a local Osprey dealer for the ultimate comfort—making pressure points and dead zones a thing of the past. You stay organized on the trail with a convertible top pocket/fanny pack, removable hydration sleeve, separate sleeping bag compartment, and a quick-access side zipper. The Women's Luna 85 is a durable expedition size pack that is ideal for extended backpacking trips or multi-day mountaineering adventures.

Bottom Line: Pack it all in the women-specific Osprey Luna 85 and get lost in the backcountry.

I'm wondering about the "quick access side zipper."

I'm wondering about the "quick access side zipper." Is this to the main compartment and is it large enough to provide good access to a fully loaded pack that way?

Yes, it's to the main compartment. There's plenty of access room as long as you put the things that you plan on taking out and putting back in somewhere around the pocket. It's plenty large, but not enough to be able to navigate the majority of the pack.

Osprey womens packs for guys

Yea, I love my Osprey Luna, I took it on my trip to the Grand Tetons, and it was great. It was comfortable and spread the weight evenly. I am a little guy, and the Crescent doesn’t come in a small, so I opted to get the Luna, and I couldn’t be happier. The only difference that I can tell is the color, which I got the green, or "jade", but other than that, they are pretty much identical to the Crescent, just smaller. The pack performed well, and had a great capacity, not only in the main compartment, but it was easy to strap things on to the packs outside. I love it.

I'm moving to South America...I plan on doing some exploring

I'm moving to South America...I plan on doing some exploring on the way to my final destination, but more of the hostel scene... Will this pack be sufficient? I have the Osprey Aero 35 and it's great for a weekend pack, but not for taking a year's worth of clothes...What's the minimum volume pack I should buy? I'm 5'8'' and pretty strong with broad shoulders, so I'm not worried about being able to handle it, I just want to make sure I have the option to carry a lot of gear! HELP!

Well Osprey makes some of the best packs in the world, so quality is not an issue here. As far as the size, only you can really decide how much stuff you're going to bring, whether you can do laundry, what you'll need to pack etc, but 85L is enormous. Really really huge. I cannot envision an amount of stuff that you could possibly need, especially if you're just hostel-hopping, that would make this pack insufficient.
