Osprey makes great packs

  • Familiarity:I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I haven't gotten to use this pack hiking yet, but I have the same pack in the 48L version. I love them both. The integrated rain cover has come in handy many times. Osprey is the best when it come to comfort, and functionality(pockets everywhere). I had no problems with the side pockets, it comes ready for a hydration bladder which I would use if I needed to carry a lot of water.

Hey Ben, thanks for writing. You will LOVE your Kestrel 28. Truly a pack for just about anything. It is a real user's pack, so have fun out there!

Awesome pack!

  • Familiarity:I've put it through the wringer

I have used this pack many times (at least 15), and have had it for just over a year now. I use it for everything from short day hikes to one or two night minimalist camping outings. The pack is built nice and sturdy, as well it feels great while in use. I have two other osprey packs the atmos and the aether all three of these packs have a great feel to them, the hip belt especially. I expect a great fit and feel every time I buy a pack from osprey and have never been disappointed. The only reason I gave this pack a four instead of a five is that the mesh pockets on the sides are almost too small to fit a 32oz nalgene in them. They fit so tight I am afraid that they might tear. All in all you can't go wrong with this pack, I have used every feature on it and have never needed any more.
