Description

Pack it, boot it, and lap it.

Sure the lift line trees hold great pow, but when patrol drops the ropes to the peak's bootpack, you're there with all you need tucked neatly into the Osprey Karve 11 Backpack. Whether you ski or ride, you can attach your snow-slaying gear, probe, shovel, and other slackcountry essentials onto and into this sleek, lift-friendly pack. Then all you need is some skills and a partner to watch your back as you drop into a deep and skinny chute off the summit.

  • Two external sleeves with bungees secure your probe and shovel handle, and the front shovel pocket stows your shovel blade and goggles while you hike
  • Main compartment holds a hydration bladder (sold separately), food, and layers for lapping the hike-to-only upper mountain
  • Diagonal ski carry, vertical snowboard carry, and horizontal snowboard carry let you carry your snow riding tools the way you want
  • Padded, reinforced front panel ensures your edges don't rip into the pack or crush what's inside
  • Pre-shaped, padded, and snow-shedding back panel and shoulder straps provide a comfortable fit all day long
  • Removable webbed waist belt secures the pack without adding tons of bulk
  • Insulated hydration sleeve prevents your liquids from freezing and becoming dead weight
  • Quick-release Z-shaped compression straps condense the load for easy hauling and also provide additional gear attachment points

Here's what others have to say...

can the pack fit a pair of hiking shoes?...

can the pack fit a pair of hiking shoes?

Best Answer Responded on

I wouldn't bet on a pair of full on high-boots, but at 670 cu inches in the m/l you should be able to fit a pair of hiking shoes just fine.

Can the pack fit the Geigerrig 3L Hydration...

Can the pack fit the Geigerrig 3L Hydration Engine? It's 16" high and 7" wide.

This is designed to fit up to the 3L HydraForm Reservoir which measures out at 15.5 x 6.25 x 4.5 inches. Anything more than that might fit but it will be snug.

Great Little Backpack

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I'm very impressed with the Karve backpack by Osprey. The compartments are just the right size for my everyday items for work and the bladder hose sleeve is pretty sweet.

Only things that I dislike would be the small front pocket zipper makes it really difficult to pull items out of the little pouch (ie: iphone) and my bit valve cracked during the first use.

Other than these two small things, this backpack is great!

Big enough to put an ipad in?

Hi Bob Bowen,

Thanks for the question. The dimensions of an iPad with cover is usually 10" by 8" and since the S/M size is 17.5" by 12" an iPad should fit in just fine.

Nice ski pack.

Just got the Karve 11. I ordered it because I wanted a nice small pack i could wear around the ski hill and have to option of strapping on my gear if i wanted to hike up a bit for that nice pow!
Keep in mind that I have yet to wear it skiing so this is my first impression.
The fit feels great. It is nice a stream lined and the size feels perfect for me, with or without all my snow gear on.
It has great storage space with a nice central compartment to fit clothing and hydration pack and two other smaller compartments for goggles, cell phone etc...
The straps to carry my skis looks large enough that I should be able to put on some nice wide skis ro snowboard.
I got an M/L I am 181 cm and weight 165 lbs.
I'll update my post when I've used it a few times. Giving 4 stars because I haven't put it through the ringer yet :P

Great ski pack

I bought this bag because it wasn't as big as a lot of the others. I love it! It is comfortable, holds the gear that i need it too. And my water doesn't freeze in the tube. A great bag.

Will this pack fit a 3L Camelbak bladder,...

Will this pack fit a 3L Camelbak bladder, spare pair of gloves, socks, and goggle lenses, a multitool/knife/spare tubes/small headlamp/compact first aid kit, cell phone, small point and shoot camera and a Contour HD, small lunch/a couple Clif bars and an XL hardshell?

Looking for something lower profile than my Dakine Heli Pro DLX 20L for all day lift served adventures and winter MTBing and I'm debating between this, a BD Bandit, or an Osprey Karve 16 if 11L just isn't enough volume for my packing list.

For skiing I could probably go down to a 2L bladder if I needed to and do a 3L bladder and softshell or rain/wind jacket for MTB.

You are asking to fit quite a bit into this small pack. I would move up to the Karve 16 IMO.

Things I fit in my Karve 11--2L reservoir, down layer, 2 Clif Shots, a pair of sunglasses, a shovel blade, extra gloves, and my skins. All that fit in there barely and I was wishing I had the 16L. I agree with Mike, go Karve 16.

The 16 is perfect, and does have compression straps to really shrink it down. I have this and the BD Bandit, I choose this one everytime, more pockets, smarter design.
