Osprey’s Flare Pack is for those who want to carry a few extras during a day hike or daily commute without feeling like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders. Take it on trail and pack both the essentials for a small picnic and an extra layer of clothes. Daily bike commuters will appreciate its EVA padded shoulder harness and rear blinker-light attachment loop. And just about everyone will enjoy the internal MP3 sleeve with ear bud routing system that allows your ear phones easy access to your auditory appendages.
  • Slotted EVA foam harness feels comfortable on shoulders, and mesh exterior allows air to circulate and keep you cool
  • Spacer mesh back panel lets the air flow so your back stays cool, not swampy
  • Waist strap keeps the pack from shifting while you’re moving

I've used this pack practically every day for two years, mostly as a laptop/work bag. I usually tote around 10 lbs and it's held up perfectly. Great for hiking, very comfortable.

The bag has tons of room, and even a slot for a laptop, which is key considering I am in graduate school and use my laptop frequently. The problems are: there is only one usable (zippered) front pocket -- the other is mesh, so not good for watertight protection; the inside zippered pocket is on the backside of the front pocket, so if both are full, the bag becomes top-heavy and tips over -- essentially, it has a high center of gravity; the straps are overdone and hard to manage for everyday usage; finally, the lip covering the zipper often gets snagged in the zipper pulls, which is annoying since I need to access the contents of the bag often. The side pockets are great though, and fit about any sized water bottle, nalgenes included.

The size and option for hydration bladder make this a fantastic pack for dayhiking; it has many practical storage compartments, just the right amount of space, and is very comfortable. The mesh pockets seem to be able to conform to most any size water bottle which is extremely useful. There isn?t a real good way to tuck away the excess from the waist and chest straps if you?re a smaller framed person, but otherwise this is a fantastic pack

I'm in college and I use this backpack everyday. It is absolutely amazing. Not only do I wear this backpack from class to class but I also wear it out on the weekends when I go camping and hiking. Yes, I use this backpack on a three day trip. It fits everything! It's awesome. I love it and I highly recommend it to anyone who is going to wear it everyday.

This is my fourth Osprey Pack. I never knew this until I got my Flare pack, but Osprey guarantees their packs to a level that I have not seen in other companies. If its damaged in any way, they repair it for free. And if they can't repair it, they give you a new one. Can't beat that.
