At a scant 3lb, the Osprey Atmos 50 Backpack is an ultralight pack for aggressive fastpackers who strive to push the envelope. Stuff everything you need for a weekend or weeklong ultralight trip in this top-loading 3000cu in backpack. For long treks in hot weather, a 3D breathable mesh back panel provides exceptional airflow, while a thermoformed and perforated waffle pattern hip-belt and shoulder straps keep you comfortable. You'll hardly notice the heavy load on your back—the AirSpeed suspension's aluminum alloy frame and titanium torsion rods provide lightweight and bomber support, while the ErgoPull hip-straps draw the load evenly over your hips to eliminate pressure points. Meanwhile, twin front pockets hold your extra layers, an internal sleeve stashes your hydration reservoir, the waist belt's zippered mesh pockets keep energy bars close at hand. Accessible twin side pockets grip your Nalgene and fuel bottles.

Bottom Line: Push it hard, push it far, and make sure the Osprey Atmos 50 Backpack is on your back.

The Atmos 50 can do anything!

After hiking over 3000 miles this year with the Atmos 50 I can attest to the quality and durability of the product. Like all Osprey packs, it takes a day or two to break in the shoulder straps and then you’re good for a decade. I think it’s funny how outdoor gear sales people try to convince would-be customers that packs like this can’t handle the needs of extensive trips. Well, leave the canned food and the blue jeans at home and you’ll be fine. I love this pack. You get the best of the internal pack with the breath ability of an external frame. If I could have any pack in the world, for long distance hiking, it would be the Atmos I already have. Sure it’s dirty and has a few small dental floss and duct tape patches, but the pack has no major issues and has treated me well.

If you're looking for a lightweight backpack that can handle a few days worth of gear and supplies in the backcountry, this is the one.

My first venture with the Atmos 50 Backpack was a three-day trek in Utah's desert backcountry. Water being the biggest issue when desert camping, the Atmos handled the added weight of 24lb worth of water admirably along with the rest of necessary gear. I far exceeded the recommended weight limit for this pack and it remained very comfortable on my shoulders the whole time.

There are many features on this pack that make it perfect for light and fast hiking as well as easy access to gear on the fly. You'll love the mesh pockets located on the waist belt for smaller items such as lip-balm and compass, etc. Also, the mesh backing makes hiking and ascending a lot cooler experience; no more sweaty back and salted shirts!

Overall, a great fitting pack with a tough exterior!
