The Osprey Aquasource looks like traditional hydration packs but it isn't. It takes an existing reservoir and makes it better by insulating it so your water won't freeze. The Aquasource has a big zipper that opens at the bite valve for shots on the fly. A second zipper allows access to the inside of the pack which bellows out just enough to carry food or your skins. On the outside of the pack there's a bungee cord that straps a shovel. Yes, the Aquasource is a spartan 300-cubic-inch pack that's tour ready for short forays out of bounds, and quick backcountry jaunts. Reservoir not included.
Bottom Line: There isn't a smaller, lighter pack on the market that can carry water, skins and a shovel simultaneously. Barebones tourers, you're psyched.

this little buy believe or not even will carry your skis. Vertically in the bungee straps. I don't use is for anything long, but 1000 foot yo-yo's or a little slackcountry yeah baby it's perfect! The sleeve does keep the water from freezing but if it's really cold 20 or below use a hand warmer in there. It's such a bummer to have that thing freeze.

I bought the Switch 25+5 for all the features. Now I use the 5 part or the Aquasource for resort skiing and tours out of the resort. It holds a D-grip shovel and a 100oz resevoir no problem. I can hold a coat in the bungee as well. I can also put skins, 120mm inside it. I also strap my helmet to it. This is the best resort pack going..and it does more than just carry water. Awesome.
