Piz Bianco Insulated Jacket

Taking its trust in wool outside of the limits of a baselayer, Ortovox implements wool in some way or another into every one of its garments. The Piz Bianco Insulated Jacket utilizes the temperature-regulating benefits of Swiss wool in an insulating layer that can be worn on its own or under a shell. The Swiss Virgin wool insulation helps regulate your body temperature while transporting moisture away from your body, making it ideal for aerobic activities in cold and high environments commonplace to ski mountaineering and alpine touring. Ortovox updated the Piz this season with a merino wool lining to enhance temperature regulation, moisture management, and breathability. The nylon micro ripstop shell readily resists tearing, and it is fitted with a water-resistant membrane to protect from moisture. Its ergonomic fit helps to insulate and allows you wear a shell over this jacket when the weather turns foul.

Very well engineered jacket.

The lining on this jacket is so soft and great, you could wear it against your skin unlike most nylon puffies on the market. The insulation can take on water very well, I used this jacket for a day of paddling where the arms got pretty wet and they still were warm and not clunky. The inner wrist gaiter that comes out of the separate wrist cuff is genius, allows you to tighten your gloves around the inner one while keeping the exterior one over the wrist cuff of your glove for a full seal. Nice thinking Ortovox! I wish the pockets on this jacket were similar to the Leone style pockets or offered more inner storage for keeping things warm on longer trips, other than than that the jacket exceeds all expectations for your puffy.

The best insulated jacket I?ve owned

I?ve been a Patagonia disciple for years, but heard good things about Ortovox. I just retired a lighter down jacket I?ve had for years, and decided to go with wool. This is the best jacket I think I?ve ever owned. Super comfortable, incredibly cool and warm at the same time. Did great on my first day skiing this year and looks great apres. Awesome.

Great Winter Jacket

This is a great winter jacket. I use this most everyday throughout the winter, either wearing it or having it in my pack. It is warm, breathes well, and packs small. There is nothing better than putting this on when stopping on the summit or while digging a pit. It also looks great out on the town.
