Ortovox Peak II 42 Backpack - 2563cu in
Available Colors / Styles
Providing the extra space and features for hut trips and ski mountaineering, the Ortovox Peak II 42 Backpack also works well once the snow melts and you just want to trek through the blooming alpine. With straps for skis, ice tools, and climbing gear, you can load up this alpine pack for skiing big lines in the spring. But with its top-loading design and compression, you can easily use the Peak II 29 for an overnighter during wildflower season.
- O-Flex-Frame back system, developed by sport physicians at the Center for the Back in Munich, efficiently transfers the load to your lower back and legs while allowing breathability for all-weather comfort
- Front avy gear pocket holds your shovel and probe where you can access them with your skis or ice tools still attached to the pack
- Adjustable waist belt helps further transfer the load to your legs and secures the pack while you bootpack up steep couloirs
- The top-loading design features a top lid that protects your load from weather and a side zipper access point so you can get to your gear without unloading everything
- Large main compartment holds a hydration bladder (sold separately), food, layers, crampons, and skins for longer tours into the great white open
- Side ski straps secure your skis (135mm or narrower), front loops hold your ice tools or poles, and the climbing loop on the waist holds climbing hardware
- Compression straps lock down the pack so it doesn't flop around and they also help attach additional gear
- Top lid bungee attaches a helmet or wet layer, top lid pocket holds a map, waist pocket holds electronics, and the bottom zippered pocket holds a puffy coat for when the temperature drops
- Tough nylon resists punctures from alpine gear and water-resistant zippers prevent melting snow and rain from getting inside to your dry clothes
- Polygiene treatment on the back panel and harness prevent the build-up of odor-causing microbes with a 100% natural silver compound
Bottom Line: A versatile pack for extended tours or summit attempts.
