Ortovox developed the Peak 29 Pack's suspension with physicians from the Munich Back Center to make it incredibly comfortable to carry and gave it 1770cu in of space for your ski or snowboard tour. Not only is the O-Flex-Frame incredibly supportive, it also allows you to move easily when you're dropping in. The Peak 29 Pack has a channeled back-panel for increased ventilation, so you don't overheat on approach. This backpack's front pocket provides fast access to your shovel and probe in an emergency, and the bottom pocket is designed to perfectly fit a Ortovox Easy Help Pack first aid kit (sold separately).

Bottom Line: Travel comfortably and safe through the backcountry with the Ortovox Peak 29 Pack.

No is the answer. Pocket is probably big enough to hold a few Clif bars. :o/

Too small

By:

This pack (and other Ortovox packs) have so much potential. I wanted to hold onto this pack so bad. I had been looking for these exact features! However, the torso length is far too small and was returned for this very reason. Hip belt does not rest on the hip bones, as needed. But instead above the navel! I’m personally 5ft-10, 170lbs. I'd like to know who’s measurements were used prior to manufacturing..? Certainly wasn’t an average adult. I wish Ortovox would provide other sizes! The pack otherwise has many great features.Perhaps, Ortovox will mature one day and provide for average market. When that day comes, other manufacturers might have some stiff competition.Huge bummer!

What is the female clip used for on the right side of the pack.

What is the female clip used for on the right side of the pack. Also there are two male clips, lower on the pack near the ice axe loops?? why are they both male and what are they used for?

Compression straps to keep your load tight, because tight is right.

Drunk Purchase, but nonregrettful.

By:
August 14, 2010

So I purchased this pack at 4 in the morning while drunk and surfing. I do not actually ski much but this pack works great for quick weekend hikes or small excursions. The ice axe loops hold a hatchet just as good, and the other gear loops provide for plenty of storage, meanwhile this pack is sealed up tight from the elements and the flex frame allows for comfort during trail running (as I use it) or skiing as it was made.

How well ventilated is the back area, I have a tendency to perspire heavily and need ventilation.
The review does not address how it performs on approach.

great pack/terriable for carrying snowboards

By:
August 22, 2010

Great pack, but terrible! for carrying snowboard. I would look for something else if snowboarding as it has only 1 strap to hold the board vertically. all though it works its very unstable without a second strap. Apart from that the pack is awesome. Comfortable 0-flex frame. Easy to use iceaxe holders/skipole holders. Separate quick access avy gear pocket is a little small and can be difficult to get probe and shovel handle in on the 29L model, but they do fit. Quality is excellent. 4/5 as a ski pack. 2/5 for snowboarding.

I am looking for a pack that I can use on my hike in. I need

I am looking for a pack that I can use on my hike in. I need to carry my ski boots and skis. My present pack only lasted 2 trips before the boot buckles and ski edges caused a hole. Any thought on how this pack will hole up?

Hummm. Alpine ski boots add considerably to the weight. I'm not sure what you mean by hike in. Perhaps invest in a different setup, snowshoes, AT, CC.

I typically just connect the powerstraps together and sling them over the top of my pack.

This is a lightweight pack, I guess it will depend on how far your hike in is?

great ski pack

By:
April 14, 2006

This is a well thought out pack. It has a nice exterior access for shovel, handle, and probes. It fits well and carries a typical day tour load with ease. It carries skis well but doesn't have a diagonal carry, not a big deal since the skis sit up high enough from hitting my legs. The top lid access is little small but big enough for the essentials. Good durable materials and watertight zips. I'm surprised there aren’t more reviews.
