The rugged, tempered aluminum Kodiak features a telescoping handle so you get more leverage when you dig, yet it’ll fit neatly in your pack. Workhorse

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is a workhorse of a shovel. The length and size of the shovel is capable of moving alot of snow. This shovel has the least amount of play in the shafts than any other shovel I have used. The serrated blade helps with chopping through ice. The hoe mode is a nice feature for backup digging. Also, the back of the blade is nice and smooth so you can get a nice smooth snow pit for analyzing snow pack. The only cons of the shovel are weight and the release button for removing the shovel from the shafts gets frozen and sticks after digging. If you use a shovel on a regular basis, this is the one to get.

Will this fit in the shovel pocket of a BD Jetforce 28?

Is the shaft's grip area "sanded" or covered with polymer wrap as depicted in the image?
