Face shots with the goat at Mt. Baker, Wa
Sporting the J.P. Auclair/ Retallack Co-Lab Jacket and the Gibson pants in Large.
Good design, manufacturing needs work
I loved the feature set of this jacket, and know that features come with a price, but when compared to an Arcteryx Crossbow (same material, similar cut but welded seams, a couple less pockets, and no wrist gaiters) it was almost twice the weight and far less packable. Not an issue at the resort, but this is pushed for serious backcountry use as well and it just wasn't worth the pack space.
Also, inside the pockets it is either welded or seam taped and one of mine came glued shut. Not cool with a $450 MSRP.
I think if Orage ups their production standards (and drop the lead-weight zipper pulls) this would be an awesome jacket.
I would agree that the hood is too snug for skiing in, but fit well enough over my bulky old G10 for the lift. Also, the sleeves were too short for my liking but I have monkey arms.
It is designed for BC skiing, and has almost everything you need in the wild winter. Other reviews give enough compliments to this jacket. My only complain is that the hood is not helmet compatible, which might bring a lot of trouble in rainy days.
Seriously brilliant Jacket
I have a confession to make....I have had a bit of a Ski Jacket fetish.....until now. My search for the ultimate jacket finishes with the JP Retallack.
Just worn for 2 weeks skiing through Japan in -20C temps with heavy snowfall and brilliant powder with a rare couple of days of bluebird conditions. In every situation this jacket was fantastic, comfortably warm when the conditions were bone chilling, and easy to vent and be comfortable when the bluebirds come calling. Really well located pockets made for easy access even with backpack on, and hiking straps fantastic for that compulsory peak hike.
Never felt cold, never felt hot, always felt dry. Combine with Orage Gibson bib pants for the ultimate powder barrier.
Sizing a little on the large/comfortable side compared to other makes.
So happy with the jacket I am trying to find one for my son. Only complaint - so hard to find as they are clearly popular.
I don't ski like JP, but I felt as close to perfect as I ever will wearing his jacket!

What is the sizing on this? I am 6'1"...
What is the sizing on this? I am 6'1" usually wear a large in most things but the sizing seams to be off on this. According to Orage's site I should be an XXL is this correct?
The sizes seem to be standard to just-a-tad loose. I'm 6'2" 180lbs and just got a medium- baggy enough for me with room for layering underneath and plenty of length- but I like things a bit on the fitted side. Large would have fit fine but with a looser cut (more like seen on JP in the video). The chart you saw must be off.
