Serious about shaving weight? Take the frame out of your pack, cut the tags off your jacket, and get yourself the 3.3oz Optimus Crux Lite Stove. This incredibly lightweight stove folds down to a super-compact size, and comes with a stuff sack that fits in the hollow space under your butane canister. The Optimus Crux Lite Stove's 3000W output boils a liter of water in as little as three minutes, and a simmer knob lets you cook food instead of burning it.
Bottom Line: The Optimus Crux Lite Stove packs the power and performance of bigger stoves without all the weight.
I can't really add anything to what's already been said here about the technical details of the stove- boiling times... weight, etc... It obviously compares well to other, similar stoves, and those reviews offer great reasons to consider buying a Crux Lite. But I do have something unique to offer that a potential buyer may want to consider in addition to the other qualities mentioned...
Last week, I stepped on mine.
I weight well over 200 lbs...
Fortunately, I can report that both stove and owner are doing well, and I am now a fan for life of this stove. It is as strong as they come.
I specifically bought this stove because it said it would fit in the underside of a butane canister. Unfortunately this is not the case. The full size Crux stove burner will fold to the side, but this one is one piece. Only the pot arms fold in.
It seems to be a really great, solid stove, but it won't fit where I need it too. I'm sending it back to purchase the regular (not lite) one. If you don't need the folding then this is a good choice for a lightweight stove. I give it four stars because it still could be a good product, just not for me.
Why does it say that the boil time on this stove is 60 min? Also, the weight is the same as the regular Crux Stove according to the backcountry.com stats?

Small, hot, and light. Some of the information in the above product description applies to the more deluxe Optimus Crux i.e. the burner head doesn't fold down on the Crux Lite, but the pot stabilizing prongs fold in, as does the flame control handle. It gets almost as small as the Crux and is lighter. Weight 2.5 OZ.
What I really like about this stove is: The burner head spreads the flame out, and I can cook a soup or stew on simmer and not scorch the food. It's still supposed to be the hottest stove in it's class with 10,200BTU. Dee
To answer your question, this stove is not compatible with propane (requires very high pressures resulting in extremely heavy canisters and are fitted with the wrong valve) or white gas. It is compatible with canisters fitted with a Lindal valve as mentioned above, but those use a butane/propane blend (mostly butane.) If you're hoping to use Coleman fuel or those heavy, thick-walled propane bottles, you probably want to buy a different stove.
The Crux Lite stove is compatible only with compressed gas, canisters employing a screw-on, Lindal valve. These canisters can be found most anywhere in the US but are not yet available world-wide. It will not burn white gas.
The stove worked fine for me. After use, the pot supports were much harder to fold in and out. After a few uses this changed and it is easier to fold in/out now. It did well in mild wind and boiled quite quickly. Someone posted 2.5oz as the weight and the website says 3.3oz. I believe BC has false info also but whichever it is, this stove is light weight and packs in my GSI nesting mug. I enjoyed the stove and do not think I could find one that I like better.
I like this stove a lot, it's a bargain for what it is. Very light and very simple means it's reliable, and um, light. I have used it quite a bit and my only complaint is the valve to control the burner is very sensitive. It's tricky to simmer. If you are looking for a very simple, small and light stove though- this is a great buy. I am very satisfied.
Note: As other reviewers have pointed out- this does NOT fold like the crux. The pot supports fold in as does the burner control, that's it!
I wonder if the base can be unscrewed from the burner? The Optimus website isn't very clear on this. Does any have one of these or know someone who does?
The burner stem will detach from the base for extensive maintenance but with some effort. In other words this action should, most likely, never become necessary & should never be performed in the field.
I think this stove is rad. It is light and easy. The fact that it fits in the optimus pots along with a fuel canister is a huge bonus. Another big bro with this specific burner is that it has a nice spread on the flame.
My single complaint with this pot is the fact that it is lacking an ignition meaning you have to carry matches or a lighter to use it. I realize this is something you probably bring already, but it is a huge bonus when you can light it up with the push of a built in button. The ignition would have led me to give this product five stars
I have a buddy that uses this stove and he loves it. It does a great job for him. I do not like it as well as the regular Crux because it does not fold done as small, making it harder to pack in a smaller pot set. This is the ONLY drawback to this stove. It is still a great stove that boils water faster than most others. For me, the minuscule weight difference is not good enough for me when compared to the portability of the Crux.
They say: "This incredibly lightweight stove folds down... and comes with a stuff sack that fits in the hollow space...."I wonder if they mean the other Crux stove (not "Lite"). Does anyone know? This one looks like "Crux lite"- and does NOT fold down... Check out www.optimus.se
Correct - this is not the folding version of the stove, but it should be noted that this stove still fits inside of both the terra solo and terra weekend pots (also from optimus) along with a a fuel canister. I've used this burner as well as the folding option, they're both awesome, but I prefer a burner with a built in ignition like the brunton raptor.
You're absolutely correct. This one does not fold down like it's unique, older sibling but its 21 grams lighter.http://www.optimus.se/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=49&Itemid=97
cheap and works. have been using a bunch. being small is its best and worst traight. any smaller and i wouldnt want to cook with it... any bigger and i wouldnt carry it all the time.
Without question, this is my favorite canister stove. It's light, disperses heat well, extremely compact, has excellent simmering capabilities, and very reasonably priced. I've also owned the MSR Pocket Rocket and in my opinion, there is no comparison. The Crux Lite would have to be the more functional and compact of the two. I expect it will be my go to backpacking stove for years to come.
Small , compact and easy to use . Big burner head disperses heat evenly . Simmers really well . The only thing I kind of dislike is the stove will blow out easy...not really an issue to me. I also have the MSR Pocket Rocket but will keep it just in case , I like them both.
Amazingly small, I really love this stove because it fits together with all my eating utensils in my titanium pot. Also its ultra light, with of course is very convenient
I recently purchased this stove to use for my job. I had a project this year in the smokey mountains that required being out of touch most of the day. this stove made lunchtime cooking much easier and since each of us carry tools and other items weight played a big part in my pick
I can't really add anything to what's already been said here about the technical details of the stove- boiling times... weight, etc... It obviously more...
I specifically bought this stove because it said it would fit in the underside of a butane canister. Unfortunately this is not the case. The full size more...
