Description

Get back in your hammock.

Take off your OluKai Men’s Moloa Shoes, and kick back in your hammock. As you lounge under a clear blue sky, try not to think about how comfy your leather shoes feel on your feet. No, don’t do it … don’t casually touch the soft microfiber linings of your Moloas with your toes. Resist the urge to push down the Moloa’s heel-stays with your big toe (in order to convert them from shoes to slides), and slip your feet back into them. Definitely don’t get up from your hammock to take a walk in these OluKai shoes … OK, you fail at being lazy.

Moloa Shoe

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times
  • Fit: True to size

One of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Love them. The soles are a bit different and you can feel them a little, but that is not an issue for me. Though true to size, they are plenty wide.

Comfortable, but run big

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
  • Fit: Runs large

Had a pair last year, and bought another pair in anticipation of a nice summer ;-) Comfortable leather shoes - I wear them without socks and they're casual enough to wear with shorts, but still smart. They do run big though - I normally wear a 10 or 10.5 and sized down to 9.5.

Favorite Shoes

Super duper comfortable with or without socks and great around water. Very solid construction in every aspect and they look great too. These are my favorite shoes hands down Spring through Fall. I highly recommend.

OluKai Moloa's Rock!

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I recently bought a pair of OluKai's Moloa shoes and they are the bomb. With or without socks... with the "drop-in heel" up (shoes) or down (slip-ons)... these are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. The full grain uppers are soft on foot and look even better the more I wear them. The traction pads on the soles felt different at first, but they actually seem to massage my feet as I walk. The Moloa's are true-to-size - my size 10.5's fit perfectly. These shoes are highly recommended.

Great Shoes!

I have owned my basic flips from olukai and have enjoyed them a lot so I was looking for a casual shoe for dress and thought I would try the Maloa, what a great shoe! Comfortable right out of the box and easy to wear. I did take the advice of others here and ordered a half size down from my normal size and they fit perfectly. I was wondering if I would feel the sole like others stated and did at first but then my foot just seemed to adapt. If you've enjoyed any of the companies shoes before and you're looking for something for casual dress, you can't go wrong with these.

What's up with Pricing? I had been looking to purchase these shoes for several days now and was going to order from the Olukai website. I then got an email from Backcountry (from whom I've purchased from in the past). I looked for the shoes, and viola...there they were...on sale! or so I thought. Of the roughly 30+ color/size combinations, only 4 obscure sizes are actually on sale! The others are the same (original) price as on the olukai website. Seems kind a bait and switch to me.

Best Answer Responded on

They offer discounts on odd color/size combo's that aren't selling. That's why the list the price as "FROM $96.00"

Bait-and-switch scemes work diffrently. For instance, you see a 60" TV selling for $300. When you get to the store, they tell you those TV's are sold out, but here's a similar one for $800.

The prices are listed up front, and they are in stock. It may suck, but it's not bait-and-switch. It happens to me too.

Responded on

Yea, I knew it wasn't literally "bait & switch". I just couldn't think of a better term to call it : ) I'll most likely purchase them through Olukai.

Hi palp429496 we are working on improving the experience to make it more obvious for you when a specific color is on sale, stay tuned!

No Gore-Tex, but still great.

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Contrary to what it says in the tech specs, these do NOT have a Gore-Tex membrane. They are straight leather. I found this out when I received mine. Not a deal-breaker, but it definitely makes it less of a value.

I got the charcoal/stone variant and I really like them. I noticed that one reviewer (Jonathan Rambo) suggests possibly sizing up if you're on the cusp and another (Ryan Hamilton) suggests the opposite. I tend to agree with Jonathan. I normally wear a size 11 and that's what I got for these. They fit just right. So well, that I can't wear thick socks with them. I'm sticking with this size rather than 11.5 because they are very comfortable and, being leather, I know they will probably stretch a little as I break them in. I definitely would not have been happy in a size 10.5, though.

The soles are weird and you kind of feel the lugs through the midsole. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to get used to. I'm not really sure what the point is of getting all creative with a part of the shoe that no one will see.

Overall, I'm very happy with these shoes.

Lovin it

I bought a pair of the older version of these which are fabric instead of leather or suede. I really like these shoes easy to get on and off comfortable year round and can work for casual or more formal occasions. I wear a 10.5 and 10.5 seems to work, but I think they run on my smaller spectrum so if you are already close to maxing out on 10.5 I think this is a shoe you might want to size up a half size.

Nice, good looking shoe, but WIDE

These shoes are good looking and high quality, and can be casual or dressed up in a variety of looks. Everyday, wear-to-work, the corner pub, etc. However, they are REALLY wide, and not only do they fit and feel wide, they LOOK oddly wide... If they were sized/marked as wide shoes, that would be one thing, but they aren't, and for that reason I gave them 4 stars instead of five. And I don't have narrow feet, just average width.

Responded on

I agree with you, I have wide feet and these guys feel a little bit wider than I'd like, they are still pretty cool but, you are right.

Sweet Shoes for everyone

Sweet, easy on easy off, very comfortable, should be great for winter.

Most comfortable shoes ever

Just got these last week and it's like I'm cheating when I wear them. They feel like I'm walking around in slippers all day, take that civilized world. After comfortable, the next best word to describe these is quality. Everything is PERFECT. The leather is perfect. The stitching, both ornamental and structural, is perfect. The fact that you can wear them as normal shoes, or fold the heal area down to wear as slides is awesome. Sizing is interesting. If you're going to wear them as normal shoes then size down 1/2 size. I wear an 11.5 most of the time and got these in 11.5. They are a bit bigger than I might like. But, if you fold down the heal the size is perfect. Seems to go against logic, but you'll have to trust me on this. Anyway, great shoes, buy them, love them.

no sizes!!!!!!

I can't find a single freaking shoe in my size on this website. I really wish my mother in law had gotten me a gift cert anywhere else - like REI - where they have full size runs.

Responded on

Nobody cares about your mother in law. Don't rate a product based off of a complaint you have about the website that it is sold on.
It's unfair to the hard work of the manufacturer and people that designed it. Plus it's misleading to those of us that are looking for legitimate feedback.
Please keep your in law issues between you yours and let the rest of us utilize the features of backcountry for what they were intended.

Great shoe, super cool looking!

Awesome shoe, these things are amazing. Very comfortable and really cool looking. I did have to go a half size smaller than my normal size, they probably aren't a full half size too large, but like a 1/4 size large.

I need a review or two about these shoes....

I need a review or two about these shoes. I am thinking about buying them and need some advice. to they hold up? compfort? do they get a bit bigger with wear?

Best Answer Responded on

These are my first pair of Olukai shoes and I have to say I was a bit nervous because of the price tag. So far, they seem to be worth the extra dollars. I've had them for several months and they are holding up well. They are comfortable throughout the day, but I can sometimes feel the rubber patches of the sole on the bottom of my foot, which can be a bit weird. The slide feature is incredible. At first I didn't want to use it because of the stretching fear, but that's pretty much the only way I wear these bad boys, and no stretching has occurred thus far. Over all they were a good purchase and I would recommend them.

Hey Tyler, do they fit pretty true to size?
