Beautiful shoe and fits great but it came out of the box with a loose thread that opened up a seam on the leather. As a result I have to exchange them which is a big hassle.
Almost.

I had high expectations for this shoe, Loved the look of it and thought it was pretty comfortable, especially with the super feet in. However, after just a couple jaunts in the rain, the leather uppers became especially stiff and contorted (shame on me for not waterproofing with NickWax). The stiffness was alleviated by a bit of leather oil/saddle soap but they still stayed a little bent out of shape.
The kicker (pun) came though after I had put them in the closet for about a month or so for the remainder of the wet winter. Upon taking them out on a spring day, I noticed that there was a discoloration around the shank, it turned out that it had been growing mold all winter (once again shame on me for not waterproofing)! Despite the fact that I washed and scrubbed most of the mold off, they weree not quite the same and actually started molding again! I ended up tossing these rather than taking advantage of Backcountry's return policy (I wish I had).
All in all, a promising product, but ultimately, leather shouldn't mold (none of my other leather shoes or boots have).
If you buy, waterproof and keep them dry!
Not what I was expecting...

...after reading all the 5 star reviews. Paid $120 on-sale and don't think they're worth $50. I'll give them 2 stars for style (they looked good coming out of the box) but as another poster mentioned, they're uncomfortable around the ankles. No, they were just plain painful. I had to apply multiple applications of mink oil just to get them to soften up to just be bearable. I also had to apply the mink oil everywhere else as the leather was staining from the get-go (where's that water-resistance as advertised?). Lastly, my feet are sensitive to cold and I've found these not only a "cold" shoe to wear, but that they have a severe lack of cushioning on the sole (thus the cold?). I honestly don't think I'll buy Olukai's again.

Love the shoe, love the look and high quality... just a bit funny feeling around the ankles as the ankle top of the shoe is a bit thick so you feel it against the skin more than other shoes the same height. I wear them daily at work, and have had them for a few weeks now. Hopefully they will soften around the ankle as they wear in... Would give them 5 stars if it weren't for the noticeable ankle "hug" that I've never noticed with any other shoe.

I wear a size 13 olukai flip flops and both pairs I own fit perfectly, Bought one size bigger then my actual size, whihc was recommended by many. Does the same go for this shoe?

i always go a size bigger with flops just because the variation between brands and models in the size and placement of the strap(s). i am pretty sure a lot of other people do the same. i do not do that for shoes or boots of any brand.
most of the reviews on other sites are saying that this shoe fit true to size.

Found this shoe by looking for something ergonomic for aging feet. I read the two earlier posted reviews which were pretty enthusiastic and helped me decide to at least order these to try them out. Now I've waited just over a week to make sure, but I now add my voice by saying this is one of the best shoes I've ever worn. When you inspect them closely, every design idea and shoe feature have been carefully thought out, stout materials have been selected, and they feel great, are lightweight yet tough, and provide the ankle support I was looking for. A late winter snowstorm here this week gave them a test on snowy, icy surfaces and they made me feel safe and secure walking and were really warm. I'm tempted to order another pair as backup, as designs change and inventory comes and goes. This shoe is a home run and worth every penny!

The leather portion of the sole is just cosmetic, rubber underneath. No water stains, no damage to the leather. It's a very high quality, good wearing leather. I have a few scuffs, but it just looks like nice aging, not like a shoe in poor repair.

These shoes are so comfortable they make walking effortless. They are the basically flat - the heel is level with the ball - so that you feel like you are walking barefoot. And they look really cool and go with just about anything.
Comfortable, Excellent Construction, Ergonomic

These shoes are awesome. I wear them without socks because the cushioning on the inside is ridiculously comfortable. Gives me a walking on air feel. The leather is premium quality and craftsmanship is excellent. Worth the $$
