I recently bought these as a gift for my brother. He loves these sandals, and I quote "I received my new Olu Kai Hiapo flip flops about a week ago and, right out of the box, they felt unbelievably comfortable. The leather footbed and straps are very supple and my feet are in "piggy heaven". Did I mention that they look pretty awesome, too?! Thanks, Backcounty, for a great product and your great service!!!"

I have a medium-wide foot. I tried a pair of these on in a store and it was difficult to slide my foot all the way in. Once on, the strap was pretty darn tight.
Is there much give with the strap as the sandal breaks in????

These are one of the best pair of sandals I have ever owned. Super KUSH and the thong doesn't chafe between your toes. They look great dressed up or down.
Bought for a special occasion- used every day!

I got these for my husband to wear to our beach wedding and they were perfect for the event, but he loved them so much that he wears them every day and says that they are the most comfortable flip flop he has ever worn!!! Yessss!

I put these through a decent test, I wore these over the weekend in Las Vegas. It didn't take long for these to feel broken in, and they definitely were not previously worn I might add. The Sun, heat, wind, Drunken stumblers, and terrain of all sorts were no match for the comfortable durability known as the Hiapo!! Now I will start browsing for another model as well.

I have probably 10 pairs of sandals, ranging from olukais, to reefs, to rainbows, to sanuks. These are, bar none, the most comfortable. They're even more comfortable than just walking around barefoot. If I had a criticism, and I don't, it would be that these sandals are so comfortable that it makes me baby them like a fine leather shoe.
Great "flip flops"

This is my second pair of Hiapo sandals. Very comfortable and durable. They do run small though. I normally wear a 10.5 or 11 but in these I require a 12. They are a little pricey but you won't regret it.
Darn Comfy

Well, they are a little on the heavy side, and take a while to break in, but all in all they're pretty sweet. I love how they look and the graphics on them are really cool...even though you can't see them when you're wearing them. At any rate, they're very comfy once they're broken in, plus they have great traction. They do mold to your feet very well and essentially are like orthotic sandals--definitely love that.

Try using Saddle Soap for the cleaning. Might also want to rub them down with Mink Oil - this will def help them smell good. AND - I have found that the consistent use of Leather Lotion will do wonders with these. BTW - expect the leather to darken a little after the use of any cleaning product.

Saddles, shoes, saddles, seats, furniture, coats, flight jackets... If it's leather and you want it to last, Lexol cleaner followed by Lexol conditioner.

These sandals fit well and support your feet. These are my second pair. I left the first pair at our home in Florida but quickly realized that I needed a pair in the north. My wife gave them to me as an early Father's day present. Ahh!

The straps are made for fat feet. Awsome detailing/ design but must be made for fat guys.
Good sandal, not worth the $cratch though

These sandals are awesome. Stylish, comfy, and well made. The only problem is that they are little or no better than a pair of rainbows or other well made leather flops that you can get for 1/2 the price. If you can afford to blow the money (I can't and shouldn't have) get them. If not go with some rainbows.
5- for style, and quality
3- for value
And as always BC.com is great!!

If you are on the half size, I'd suggest sizing up. I am a 8.5 typically and wear a 9 in these.
very nice

I give 5 stars for the shoes....quality and comfort where excellent. I give 1 star to backcountry for sending me an obviously worn pair...which happened to be their last.
Great Footbed

These sandals have a great footbed to support your feet which is great for people who live in sandals like me. The sizing is a little small.

If it's about sizing they recommend sizing up if you normally wear half sizes. If you have any additional questions, our community will be able to help you, just be a bit more specific and we will have your answer in no time.
