Let’s say you want a kayak for mid-length day excursions. Maybe you’re new to kayaking, or maybe you have a quite a few trips under your belt. Either way, the Old Town Adventure 125 XL Touring Kayak looks mighty promising. This craft uses three-layer polyethylene for low weight, stiffness, and built-in flotation, and the XL boasts a shallow V-hull design for stability. Let’s also say you want a super comfy seat where the back-rest adjusts forward, back, up and down, and the seat pan angles up or down. And you’d like adjustable foot pegs and a bow and stern hatch for your lunch. Yup, the Adventure 125 XL sounds just about right.

Bottom Line: Have your third breakfasts and first and second lunches in the Adventure.

How well will it float down class 3 rapids?

This Kayak is recommended for pretty mellow water conditions. I would probably not send it down anything higher then class 1 rapids. I would check out some of these kayaks for more burly conditions.

Yes, but for the most secure fit, it all depends on what rack you've got. Go here http://www.backcountry.com/store/car_rack/thule/begin.html and here http://www.backcountry.com/store/car_rack/yakima/begin.html to find out what fits your truck and kayak needs.
