You and your partner will have plenty of space in the Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 XL Tandem Kayak. This wide, sturdy boat makes it easy and fun to bring a buddy along—even if your friend is a first-time paddler. Unlike some sit-on-top kayaks, the Malibu 2 XL Kayak comes with two padded, adjustable seat rests. Brace your feet against the molded-in foot rests for paddling leverage, and stash your paddle under the paddle keepers when you stop to take pictures. Carry the Ocean Kayak Malibu 2 XL Tandem by the side or front and back handles.
Bottom Line: Bring your partner or a first-time paddler out on Ocean Kayak's wide, sturdy Malibu 2 XL Tandem Kayak.
Hi, I'm thinking of buying the Ocean K malibu two xl. The seats look close together- how come the back seat doesn't go back more and where is the seat place for one person? Do you need scupper stoppers? Also can you attach a rod holder?
The back seat on the picture is actually for solo paddler. For tendem paddling the back seat is moved further back on the stern. There are bungee peddle holders on either side of the boat.
Write your question here... What is the construction material? Is it solid Fiberglass or is it inflatable type?. What are the dimensions? Is it available in Houston or elsewhere?
At close to 13&half feet in length and 34" beam, this is a large kayak. It is a super stable boat, it rides on waves with great ease. You stand on one edge rocking and managing to make it to turn over and it won't ! It is spacious enough to easily holds two big adults. I took it to the ocean, backcountry lakes and rivers, it never let me down. A great boat !

I use this model when I'm fishing in Kona, Hawaii. You just can't go wrong with this model. Ample inner storage once you get some hatches installed and the top deck can accommodate just about any deck layout you want to customize. I have two flush mount rod holders behind the rear seat and a scotty rod holder in front of the forward seat. The fish bag cooler sit inside the hull underneath the center hatch and holds the drinks and food when not holding fish. I also use this solo. I've added extra nylon padeyes so I can hook up the kayak seat in the middle and then setup a milkcrate with rod holders where the rear seating area is. She paddles great on the flat Kona waters and can take the wake of passing charters with ease (although they are supposed to slow down when passing not motorized vessels). Surf launches and landings have been no problem, as long as you know what you are doing. This is just a great kayak whether loaded up to fish or bare bones to just cruise around and take in the scenery with a partner.
I am looking for a Kayak I can use at the beach, but also on lakes and flat, relatively still water, rivers. How does this Kayak paddle on Lakes and Rivers?
It will handle lakes just fine- really what this thing was made for, as far as rivers, they have to be mellow and fall under "recreational", you'll be surprised on how spread out the Malibu's abilities actually are.
This Kayak is the bomb. Fits two adults and two smaller children in laps just fine! Make sure you get a bright color or you become invisible to the crazy boaters. Been trying to find someone to take out with a kite surfing kite but no loons have volunteered yet. This kayak can take a beating. There are some drawbacks but nothing you do not get in any other SOT kayak. This puppy is a bit awkward to load yourself but you can do it. Get the Malone racks or Thule J racks and you will not have any issues. A smaller sea anchor is handy to keep you from getting blown to far if you just want to sit. Oh dont get the scupper plugs from Ocean Kayak they "melt" if the get too hot in the sun. just use chair caps the kind on folding chairs to plug the holes or a closed cell foam.
