The Ocean Kayak Frenzy Sit-On-Top Kayak gives you the comfort and stability of a solid recreational boat and adds a strong keel-line so that it tracks better than most compact craft. The Frenzy was designed with a large molded-in seat well that won’t make you feel pinned-in like a closed boat, and you won’t have to worry about getting water-logged in heavy waves.
Bottom Line: The compact craft with the big-boat feel.
I have bought my first Kayak, the Ocean Kayak Frenzy. It came with some nice extras but not anything to hold the paddles. Is there a how to install the bungee cords and clips to hold the paddles out there?
solid overall kayak. if you're looking to get this, go ahead and get the ocean kayak seat system, your back will thank you later! not recommended for moving water on rivers as the keel makes it difficult to turn. very nice and stable for ocean and lakes
you can purchase plugs for the holes as well (I usually use them if I am kayaking during cold weather on calm water and want to avoid having a wet rear-end!)

I own 2 of these, use them with my son who was 9 years old when we got them. Have used them in lakes and sound, have not tried ocean. Extremely stable, even for my son's inexperienced friends. Impossible to flip. Stability/width also makes it slow moving on wendy days, but good exercise. Haven't tried on rivers, but don't think thats what its made for. Highly recommend for fishing ponds and small lakes.
we use them on the lehigh river class 1-3 rapids manuevers great, with great stability also took it to the ocean to ride waves excellent all around boat.
I bought 2 Frenzy Kayaks a couple of years ago. I take them to the beach every year for the kids and grand kids to use while we are on vacation. We fish and play in the surf with them. For all around fun for the money you can't beat the Frenzys.
I am trying to find a sit on top kayak that my laboradors could sit on top to to go with us. Or if needed I could use to pull them aboard if they need rescuing in a current. Any suggestions?
You might want something a little bigger if you have multiple pooches. I take my lab out on my Ocean Kayak Malibu 2. It's a tandem (2 person) SOT with plenty of room for her to get comfortable. The plastic on the sides and deck is slick (esp. when wet) so I usually have to haul her up into the boat if the water is deep. Also, I put a piece of old carpet down so she can get better traction on the deck. She loves it!
These are fun, stable, easy to load, almost impossible to tip over, ultra beginner and kid friendly. The only thing you have to be careful about is the seat size, if you have more than a little "junk in the trunk" the Frenzy is not for you, go with the Wilderness Tarpon 100 instead.
I am looking for a fun kayak for the ocean surf and for snorkeling. I am comparing the Yak Board with the Frenzy. Which would be easier to climb back into after snorkeling when still out in deep water. Is the Frenzy as stable to climb into and as stable in the surf?
We bought 2 of these kayaks on impulse, and could not be happier! This is a kayak that is easy to use and hard to roll! I have taken this boat on vacation with me and had it on every type of water condition possible. It is affordable, easy to control, easy to steer, fairly quick, hard to tip, and the most stable kayak I have ever used. It easy so easy to use, that my 83 year old neighbor went out on it with me last year! They say that kayaking is the fastet growing sport today, and with a boat like this it is easy to see why: anyone can do it! You can't go wrong with this boat!
We bought two of these kayaks, after renting a regular kayak. We have used them on tidal rivers, ponds and lakes.
They are very maneuverable, comfortable to sit in with optional clip on seat, and best yet - stackable on the roof of our car. We have a Mercury Sable with a roof rack. We stack the kayaks and strap them down with two straps. Very easy to get on and off.
Because of there design you do not have to worry about getting water out of them if you take a wave. They self drain. They are extremely easy to get on and off and stable.
When you have both the wind and tide against you, paddling is more of a challenge, but still great fun.
I have a 2010 subaru outback and I need to carry my frenzy. I have tied various types of j racks but I can't seem to get it to fit. I am a 5'2" woman and I am looking for an easy way to get it up there and have it sturdy since I go everywhere.
Rook, Does your Subaru have factory rails? Have you tried any Yakima products? According to www.yakima.com they recommend the Railgrab towers with 48" crossbars. I have the Railgrab setup on my Grand Cherokee and it is SOLID. Along with the Yakima Bowdown carrier, my kayak is going nowhere. Also, the Bowdown carriers have a sort of ramp built into them that makes getting the kayak into place a breeze. Rather than getting up and over a "J" shape, you just have to get the boat to the nose of the ramp and push. There are of course other setups available (like that crazy contraption, the Thule Hullavator!), but I'm fond of this one. I hope this helps!
I watched guy surfing in one of these and he looked like he was having an absolute blast, so the next time I can I'm going to rent one and try it out, but it occurred to me that I'd like to fly fish in it as well. My question is, does it come in any other colors?.. something perhaps a little more muted than ouch-my-eyes orange? that could scare even the village idiot fish. thanks ..
This and most kayaks sold only come with the base model and all accessories are sold separately. Paddles and PFD's add some significant cost if you buy decent ones.
They can be bought with (stand alone) or without accessory packages. (ie: paddle, seat, pfd, thigh straps, scupper plugs, & paddle leash). It always pays to shop around for the best deal.
solid overall kayak. if you're looking to get this, go ahead and get the ocean kayak seat system, your back will thank you later! not recommended for more...
