Can these glasses be ordered with a prescription lens?

Check with with a Oakley rep. to find out for certain; then find the closest AUTHORIZED Oakley dealer/optometrist for a exam and order your frames/lens through them (you can find this out on their site, too). If these aren't prescription type frames, Oakley has others that you can get with you 'script.'

Your eye doc. will help you with the available lens tint choices for your new prescription Oakley's and you'll be good-to-go!

*Also: if and when you visit the Oakley web site, check out the custom and technology section, you will find a place that lets you see a simulated view of their different lens, and you can choose to view different out door environments through whatever lens you want to view! It's great!

Hope this Helps!

Would these protect the same as spoggle type safety glasses?

Do you mean "goggle"?

Oakleys meets or exceeds certain safety regulations, however, these are NOT safety glasses!

So, NO. If you need safety glasses for work or play, then that's what you'll need to purchase (at you local hardware/home improvement store, etc. At the end of the day, the sunglasses you see HERE are just that, sunglasses.

Now, Oakley does offer a line of glasses they call "INDUSTRIAL-GRADE" glasses. Go to their site for more info.: filter in search box "military glasses" and they'll come up. Don't compromise when it comes to protection for your precious eyes! Be safe and hope this still helps.

I'm an Air Force E.O.D. (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) Technician, would these seal and fit tightly around my eyes without the strap keeping the sand out while deployed overseas?

Just a note:

Oakley now has a line of glasses categorized as "Industrial-Grade". They might protect you better. Check them out...quickest way to find them on the site is to type in 'military glasses', then filter. But I don't know how 'air-tight' they may or may not be. Probably best to call or live chat with a Oakley rep. for the best advice for your situation.

Would these work as a substitute for glacier glasses on Mt. Rainier and other larger peaks?

Not really. There are two important components to glacier glasses. The side coverage, which these Wind Jackets would do and the dark lenses that cut most light from passing through, which these glasses will not do. You need something with a category 3 or 4 lens. Check Julbo Explorer out.
