From Oakley’s Pro Rider Series comes the Primed Jacket, forged in the fires of rigorous testing and constructed with input from world-class rider Seth Morrison. 30K waterproofing and fully taped seamsmean this jacket keeps you dry and comfortable from park to peak, while underarm vents and adjustable cuff and wrist gaiters allow you to adjust temp and snow resistance to your needs. Remove the snow skirt system when it’s after hours and the kegger migrates out into the snow, and remind everyone you use the same gear as the pros with an embroidery detail on Seth’s colorway.

Bottom Line: Top notch and proven by pros.

I have almost the exact same build, maybe 5-10 pounds heavier. I personally would get a medium because I like a little bit tighter fit, a small in my opinion would be too small. Hope that helps, also you can always send it back to backcountry!

This jacket is the best to date. It is a shell and you should layer with this piece. 3 outside pockets, 2 hand one chest all with water proof zippers and generous pull tabs. Chest pocket has a media pocket. Inside there is a velcro closure pocket. The hood has a one side pull that pulls from the inside of the chest pocket to stay hidden from view. There is a soft brim wire to mold the brim of the hood and a magnet on the back that snaps onto another on the back of te jacket to help hold in place when not in use. Front zipper is wide, smooth and offset to keep your chin from getting chaffed. Arms are articulated and have open pit zip venting. Wrists closure is a velcro adjustment so you can fit your glove inside the wrist and also have hand gaskets. Snow skirt is removable and snaps to Primed Bid or can zip to other Oakley pants that have that option to make a one piece to keep you dry in deep powder. My colorway Enamel Mint/Dark Forest has embroidered skulls on the side of the hood.

It's not big, it's just long. I was looking for a longer shell and this is it. Thanks Seth! I wear large Arcteryx and the overall fit is about the same. It's a great fabric, feels nice to wear. The hood is smallish, won't fit over a helmet that well. The green combo "court jester" color design is so bad it's good. P.S. the main zipper is yellow not black.

MONEY

By:
August 2, 2011

I can't even describe how awesome this coat is. There is ZERO insulation, its a pure shell that is super waterproof and light. I was actually concerned when I got it that it was TOO light, but once I wore it, I was sold. The whole set up is like wearing a suit of armor in the PNW rain/snow. It sheds moisture like a garbage bag, but breathes like mesh. This can be a deep winter coat with layers underneath, or a spring/warm weather coat with a t-shirt underneath and the vents open. Pair it with the primed pants and you've got a heckofa suit.

Best Jacket I Own...

By:
December 5, 2010

...and I have several. This is a great jacket. I have the orange colorway. I'm 5'11, 170 and ordered a large. It comes just below mid thigh. I ordered the XL also to see how it fit and it was huge, inch above my knee and wide at the bottom. I had it out the other day for a while in the rain and did not get wet at all. Keeps the heat in also, but it is a shell, so you will have to do some layering. The anorak length is great if you like a longer jacket. It says on the Oakley site that it is relaxed fit also, but the only place I see this trait is the last 4 to 5 inches of the jacket. It kind of bells out as the picture suggests. Otherwise, it is a regular fit from what I see. Again, I highly suggest this jacket.

I'm 6'1" 185lbs and currently wear a size large Burton AK jacket. Would the large Primed jacket be about the same fit or smaller?

Everything but the minor

By:
March 21, 2011

Very lightweight, impressive orange, fit me well.

I like almost everything in this suit, its color, its fit, ventilation, water proof.
But also there are couple of minuses. there is no ski-pass pocket on a sleeve and collar of this jacket slightly rubs my chin.

But anyway it is a good deal to have it on =)

I've currently got a Baggy Fit Medium Oakley Jacket from a few seasons ago, so i'm trying to figure out if i should hunt for a large or buy a medium?

There is a leaner cut to this coat, so I'd go with the large.

Thats sorta a tough one without trying it on, there have been some Oakley jackets that are pretty baggy for their listed size. So you may want the large.

This is a bomber jacket. Super waterproof, taped seams, etc. Pockets in the right locations. Offset zipper in front pretty cool. As with most super weatherproof jackets, the material and construction make it a bit crunchy/stiff - not so soft and fuzzy. But all-in-all a great all-weather coat for someone who is looking for the best in uninsulated shells. Can layer underneath for colder days, or go thin for those toasty tahoe days. I have two oakley coats (this one and a puffy) and I love them both. Beware, OAKLEY RUNS BIG. I am 6'3" 175 and generally wear a L or XL. I wear a medium in both my Oakley coats and each fits perfectly. A bit too spendy I say - 500 bucks? really?

Is this a joke?

By:
January 18, 2011

Charging 500$ for a jacket that cost 6$ to make in China, and which has exactly ZERO differences from jackets made in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, and 2006?

This is a joke, right?

Also, the colors? The ski industry has been through this period of screaming bright neon coloring which made slopes and backcountry areas look like bowls of skittles from a distance.

A reminder: "Friends don't let friends wear Neon."

Anyone who would pay $500 dollars to wear a 6$ jacket that makes them look like a giant paintball splash? Well, let's just say that it says 2 things:
1. "I'm not a good skier, boarder, OR tele athlete. In fact, I'm not an athlete at all."
2. "I have nothing worthwhile going on in my life, because if I did, I could find a whole lot of way cooler ways to use $500."

Cheers.

Not a ripoff at all, it's a nice shell. It's very long, down to midthigh, a perfect antidote to waist length Euro jackets. The colors are great - who wants to wear black? And who pays full price anyway - I don't even look at this stuff until it's at least 30% off.

Damn dude did Oakley just fire you? What's makes this shell any more of a rip off than any other three layer shell made in China. You know most of them are made in China nowadays.
