Bottom Line: Perfect for people who spend a lot of time on water or driving in variable light conditions.
I love my Oakley's....as long as i don't have to do anything particularly active with them on. While they do a decent job not fogging up, i do find that it does fog consistently by my nose piece. The optics are top notch and I can't really settle for less anymore. However, this is my 2nd pair of half jackets and my 4th set of frames....they just dont take any punishment. Sure its fine if you drop the on the ground but anything more than the force of gravity and the frame snaps. My most recent pair broke in a snowball fight this winter...and yes it was snow not ice. Overall they are great for everyday wear or use in minimally active situations.
I use these for cycling when it's sunny out. They do a great job of cutting down glare, without impairing my vision. Depth perception is still good. The have a medium face and they fit well, but would certainly fit a face larger than mine. The styling is really aggressive, so they wouldn't be my every day sunglasses, mainly just sports. Also, these glasses are INCREDIBLY LIGHT. I couldn't get over it the first time I picked them up. If you tie them to a helium balloon they would float away. Durability is good so far, but I've only been using them a week.

I've worn these since they were released through three trips to Iraq. I lost the firest pair and after trying several other brands, returned them and bought these old faithfuls. Excellent frames that don't slip down a sweaty nose. Comfortable for hours on end. Only negatives are the Polarized Iridium lenses scratch easily so I've gone through a few of them and, the glasses, because they fit close, may be a little more prone to fogging especially when I have my morning coffee.
Mostly use these Polarized XLJ Half Jackets for road cycling in the summer. The best benefits are that they remain comfortably in place even during the hottest days. The polarized lens give a great field of view and cut down on any road/car/water glare. Some disadvantages are they fog up during humid mornings or if riding inverted on helmet and don't clear easily, they are difficult to change the lens initially but once accustomed to change, then change nicely. Overall the HALF JACKET XLJ POLARIZED are comfortable and provide great eye protection both from sun and road debris and bugs.
I bought these specifically for a rim-to-rim hike across the Grand Canyon. Lens color and polarization were very good. The frames stayed put on my head. But the lenses fogged easily when the air was cool and the exertion hard. A hiking companion had another brand with similar lens characteristics but the frames had small vent holes at the top of the lenses that eliminated the fogging problem for her.
My first pair was stolen. They were so good I bought another pair. Great on the water, great driving, nearly perfect optics. My daughter's a lifeguard and I bought her a pair. She worships them. Worth the money!
Oakley Halfjacket CLJ Polarized Sunglasses are with out a doubt the best pair of sun glasses I have ever owned. You get what you pay for, a quality product.
I originally purchased a pair of the regular XLJ until I lost them in a severe storm, I loved those things. I decided to upgrade to the polarized versions and didn't think they could get any better.
It says it is a soft case, but it isn't, really, it is quite hard and durable. I've droppoed my half-jackets in this case many times, and they are fine. It is not the cheapest case out there though, but to be sure that it fits half-jackets (or what-ever you have) and to be sure that it is a sturdy case, you should by this one.
I was skeptical about spending a lot of money on the sunglasses, but these glasses are amazing. I went on a 4-day hike through the Grand Tetons and never squinted once. I am still amazed at how the Oakleys work. Polarized is definitely worth the money.
Well these polarized sunglasses sure beat anything I've had yet for sunglasses. Theyre easy to keep clean, they stay on your head, and have gone just about everywhere with me so far. Whether it is hiking in the mountains to bouncing down a trail on an ATV, they just work. And if (or I should say when) you scratch them you can replace the lens.
My only complaint is they hug your nose so tight that sometimes sweat gets on the inside of the glasses, but other than that two thumbs up!
These sunglasses are excellent. They are light and comfortable. Outstanding Peripheral vision. There is no distortion of vision, I see everything crystal clear. I highly recommend this item. Worth the money.
These are the best shades for biking. The way the frame fits, it allows you to put them over the helmet strap so you don't get a headache. There is also plenty of ventilation so they don't fogg. These are a must for biking!
